Please do not get caught up by the nomenclature of the exercise categories (balance, strength, functional). I used these terms to be consistent with certain balance-specific exercise programs and many research papers, but there’s overlap between the categories. If you’re interested in learning more about the research, please check out the blog: e3rehab.com/how-to-improve-balance/

Also, in case the programming for the “Preventative Exercise Routine” section wasn’t clear, you DON’T have to do all the exercises listed each time you workout. Here’s an example program for someone training twice per week: Monday -Box Jumps (2-3 sets) -Squat (2-3 sets) -Kettlebell Deadlift (2-3 sets) -TRX Row (2-3 sets) -Standing Overhead Press (2-3 sets) -Calf Raises (2-3 sets) Thursday -4 Square Hops (2-3 sets) -Split Squat (2-3 sets) -Single Leg Deadlift (2-3 sets) -Push Ups (2-3 sets) -Lat Pulldown (2-3 sets) -Shoulder Abduction (2-3 sets) This is just a random example that might NOT work for you, so you would have to individualize the program as needed. Ideally, an effortful training session should take 30-60 minutes. If you need help with your training program, check out our 1-on-1 consultation and coaching services: e3rehab.com/coaching/

I am currently rehabbing a fracture dislocation of my tibia at the knee. I had surgery on Feb. 26 and ended up with a nice titanium plate and 7 screws. There are some exercises in this video that my physical therapist didn't cover like, walking toe to toe and walking backward. I'll be including those in my routine. My biggest problem now is wanting to be done with it all when I'll actually be in this for the long haul. I'll likely be doing these exercises for the rest of my life.

Core strength? Why nobody talks about it when recommending balance improvements?
@winstonsearchill34574 ай бұрын
It wasn't explicitly mentioned but planks and pushups at 9:36 and rotations at 8:46 also work your core

Strengthening of your gluteus medius. Sidelying leg raises and side stepping with a resistance band are really good. Works well for my patients

You did not mention the useage of foampads or bosu balls. Is there absolutely no evidence of benefit for balance training? I don't use them nor am I a fan of previously mentioned equipment but a lot of pt's use them
