R.M. Brooks first opened his store in 1917, and is still ran by his great granddaughter Tiffany Terry. Brook’s is one of the last few stores left in existence where they still have a pot belly stove being used to heat with. Tiffany took over ownership in 2014 and has worked hard to keep the store looking as it did 100 years ago. Make sure not to miss this short documentary about one of the last few original country store still operating.

Hi! Tiffany and family. I love History and I stumbled onto your videos and absolutely love you and the store.I live in Md. ,I'm 78 yrs. old /widower and I would love to visit the store and the area. You have restored my faith in knowing there are still "GOOD" honest,charitable people left.I live alone with 3 cats so I do all of my pwn cooking and everything else. I grew up in a small country store run by my family that served as that same sort of gathering place. They even built a large game room in the back with pool and foosball tables, pinball machines and arcade games! There was always people there, day and evening! It was located along the Pamlico River in Eastern NC near the Pamlico Sound. My grandpa built a very unique marina, there was a pond right behind the store, with the river located about 100 yards beyond. So he dredged a canal about 20 yards wide from the pond to the river, so people could dock their boats in what used to be the pond and also built a boat ramp! The locals were all poor country folk but along the river there were nice "summer houses" that people came and vacationed in.
