Hi, your valve in oil housing is broken, thats why your oil light keep on for a second after you crank it. Once you do a second start I guess you are not having the issue as you got pumped oil back into oil housing.

I think you're right. I have an M50 where that valve is *really* bad and the 330i isn't anywhere near as severe, but I do plan on fixing it.

You can flip the injector box 180 degrees and use it

Apart from the icv delete did you have to tweak the maf throttle body parameters to make It work?

Yes, the maf is the same and will continue to meter air the same as before but there are a few tables that need to be adjusted since they rely on throttle position. I'll do a video on it later.

What n52 throttle body did you end up going for? There are a few different options I think...

The early ones (2006-2008 I think) work best. The one I used is advertised to fit a 06-08 325i, 328i, 330i and e60 530i. You want the oval plug which is plug & play with the MS43, otherwise you need an adapter or to rewire the connector to fit the later N52 throttle body design with the square plug. It looks like the older ones have a metal butterfly why the later ones are composite.

The roughness? I think it was a combination of a small vacuum leak and a poor quality MAF. I made sure everything was sealed & also replaced the MAF (from advance auto) with a genuine used MAF and it starts & idles great. The last issue I have with this setup is a backfire through the intake when aggressively revving the engine with no load, such as when rev matching a downshift. That's from it leaning out due to incorrect acceleration enrichment. I've been working on the tune and have it close but not perfect. It's good enough I've put 4000 miles on it.

Can you help me, is this worth it? It sounds fucking amazing that induction noise ? I have a 2003 530i and I'm curious if there's a power increase because I was told I need headers to see the increase

I'm planning to dyno it at some point; it's hard to tell if there was a power increase because it wasn't running correctly before I did the swap, but it certainly feels strong now! Headers will help but even just this mod should result in more power. The downside is you lose the DISA and some bottom end with it.

Contemplating doing this on my 330i. So far you are the only person who didn’t keep the ugly rigged M54 rail and you swapped to the Rally Road. The issue I’m experiencing is finding that fuel rail you used with the proper M50 intake mounts. Where did you pickup your Rally Road fuel rail from?

This is in preparation for a turbo build where it is typical to block off the DISA valve on the factory M54 intake. I'm keeping things simple so it's easier to work on and has less potential for boost leaks. Guess what BMW did with the N54? They went with a similar manifold design to the M50 that has large runners and no DISA valve whereas the N52 had two DISA valves and a complicated manifold in the top power variant. Anyway, the cars runs great - better than it has in years with the factory setup.

Does deleting the ice cause any issues? Like with efficiency or rough idle?

Deleting the ICV shouldn't cause any efficiency or idle issues. It does change the air flow which is especially relevant on the M50 intake; that said, my engine has a steadier idle than it did with the old ICV. The one issue I have been battling (and it seems other people have had this problem too) is acceleration enrichment going too lean and causing a stumble & even lean pop with aggressive throttle changes, such as when rev matching a downshift. Swapping to E36 injectors helped a lot & I've added more acceleration enrichment (ip_ti_pvs__pvs__n) in my tune. I have it really close but not perfect now.

It currently has stock fuel/ignition maps but is modified to remove the ICV. I'm making sure the engine is 100% before tuning it (VANOS seals next), then I'll be doing a video on how to tune these (Alpina B3 intake model, raised limiter, optimized fuel/ignition/cam tables, etc). This car will also be getting a turbo in the near future.

As somone with mutiple turbo (m54 , s52 , m52 ) cars that big throtel body is a bad idea with boost. The m50 manifold already favors the center two cylinders running Boost through a stock m54b30 throtel body. Your going to exacerbate the issue. Either change to an aluminum intake with boost or go back to the smaller t.b.. Im not talking smack, just talking from experience. Hey, mabye you could add a 7th injector or water /meth before the t.b. to combat it. ( I run water meth on the s52 ) did you modify the opening of the m50 manifold? Or is that the choke point ?

N62 throttle.body is bigger ;) n52 throttle body is god for.m50b20 intake

Yes, n62 is larger. Larger will make the throttle more sensitive and harder to fit intake tubing so its all a balance. As you said, n52 is good for the m50 intake and I don't think a larger throttle body will provide any benefit on 99% of m5x engines.

@@DriftDany I love it. The throttle is more responsive, makes good top end power and awesome noise without it being too aggressive. Keep in mind that it does lose bottom end with the M50 intake, but I will be going turbo in the future which makes this mod worth it. The M50 intake without the ICV also make it very easy to work on. Is it better than OEM? It depends on what you want. This is sportier but less refined.
