BMW E46 Project: The Big Delete, Part 2 (CCV and ICV delete, Catch Can install, TunerPro, MS43)

In the previous video, I deleted the CCV system and the idle control valve. I also got rid of the vacuum canister for the muffler flap. But the project came to a screeching halt, when I had to order parts.
In this video, we're going to finish the project. Catch can will be installed. Blowby gases will be released. And cats will be random.

I just used a generic OBD K+DCAN cable from Amazon. Those cables also work with BMW Standard Tools (INPA, NCS Expert, etc). There's a bunch of them. But here's an example: amzn.to/3NuCQPK

So i was wondering could you go from valve cover to dipstik with a T holding an small air filter to allow oil to pass by and stop pressure build up? Or a catch can setup with drain hose to dipstick? Yes.

Why did you block off the second port with a red cap on the catch can?

Didn’t notice catch can connected to intake (by means of a PCV valve or similar check valve). If so, I would guess lots of blow-by fumes in the cabin.

The catch can vents to atmoshpere (no PCV). I did that, because I plan to add boost to this engine. But some of the blowby gas does get into the cabin.

I got some rubber stoppers from the hardware store, and sealed them with black RTV.

What was the reasoning for getting rid of the idle air control system? Just trying to learn. I just got a 2003 Z4 that needs a bunch of engine work and I'm currently working on plumbing up a normal PCV system for it (Bavaraiane39 mod).

I deleted the idle valve simply because it was going bad, and I didn't want to buy a new one. I don't think there's any performance benefit from deleting it.

Where could I find the plugs or covers to seal the intake?

I got them at the hardware store. They're plastic plugs, for putting on furniture legs.

Throttle response is better. But part-throttle driveability isn't as good. If driveability is important to you, then you might not like it.

Yeah, just the hose from the valve cover. But I want to add another one, to send the vapors to the intake. Because the smell is annoying.

Hi I have 2 questions please. I don't understand what is the xdf file for on ms4x (why do you need xdf for)? Is oil catch can usefull for daily E46 320i driver?

TunerPro uses definition files (xdf) to decode the ECU software. Without the xdf, you'd be looking at hexadecimal code. For a typical daily driver, a catch can isn't needed. Just make sure the CCV system is in good condition.

The MSFlasher reads and writes the bin files. TunerPro modifies the bin file, using an xdf as a translator, so to speak. So you read the bin file from your car with MSFlasher. Then you open TunerPro and load the xdf. Then you open the bin, modify it, and save it. Then you use MSFlasher to load that bin into your car.
