E46 insturment cluster M35080 chip swap.

This was my solution restoring full functionality to an instrument cluster from another car. To make it work in my car. After my original instrument cluster had failed.

Thanks for the video. Solder station ordered and will be here in a couple of days. If it works it will match the VIN# and kill the DCS and amber brake light I assume. Plus the AC may also kick on. (Original cluster completely dead , got a used one with same part number and gauges work fine , hope this fixes the other issues). Scanner says VIN not recognized , fingers crossed !

Hello, very interesting video thank you! I have a question, by doing the Chip Swap do you also move the chassis number in addition to the kilometres? You have to do this swap because my display burned and I wanted to transfer the data. Thank you ✌🏻

Does this fix most issues of the Dsc, brake and airbag modules not communicating. Had a dead cluster .slapped a used one in and have a tamper light and no com wihh dsc abs, and airbag modules

Not sure about the air bag module. But it definitely fixes the disc abs issue.

You need to use flux to prevent damage to the circuit board

Hello, see you from CR. My cluster stopped giving pointers and other lights. Only the air bag is active. No damage is visible to the naked eye on the board. That I should review. Thank you if you could help me.

I need help please, I unhooked my battery cable put it back on forgot to tighten it tried to crank the car now that I tightened it all my gauges read way higher and I have a code on the dash saying PPPPP do you have any advice please?

I have no idea, I am by no means a BMW insturment cluster expert. Just a guy with an ebay hot air soldiering station who read a ton of forum post and found a way that worked.

Hey quick question for ya - when you got a used cluster, did you make sure the part numbers were the same or the sofware version of the cluster? I am about to do this but im guessing as long as they both use the same chip it should work fine right?

No I just made sure they were the same brand. I do know the part numbers were different as I used a automatic cluster for my manual car. I just swapped the transmission indicator part of the cluster with my old cluster.

@@TheSodog8 Where is the transmission indicator located? Is that another chip that has to be transferred, or is it a part you'll find during the tear-down?

@@kk4ccp My car was a manual transmission car, however the cluster I put in it was from an automatic. I removed the transmission indicator from mine, but it looked like the indicator was transferable without soldiering.

@@TheSodog8 So it's a removable part inside the cluster...thanks. I wasn't sure if it was that, or another chip that had to be transplanted. I've got the hot work station you got, on the way from eBay. Thanks for figuring this thing out...I was losing sleep.

I change odometer cluster in my BMW e46 330ci convertible 2004 but not every thing working example.dtc + break is on Yalow light and the dash cluster is in /ppppppp/ 😮 can anyone help me please 🥺
