E5186 Toolbox - how to force HUAWEI E5186-22 / E5186-61 router to lock on set of LTE bands

In this video I am showing how to force Huawei E5186 router to enable LTE carrier aggregation only on selected LTE bands - how to lock on 2 particular LTE bands.
I am also showing how to add other bands that are normally not visible in the menu.
You may have some LTE bands that have better reception and are less loaded in your area. Using E5186 Toolbox you can choose particular LTE bands that E5186 will operate on.

Hi, you need to use proper IP address of management interface of your router not "192.168.1.254" but rather something that you have printed on the sticker of your router

I have this router and it has what seems like a quite locked down branded firmware . Does the modded Telia router in this video for instance allow you to set static IP addresses to particular devices? DHCP reserve?

i need to check. but in fact this moddedTelia software exposes CLI interface to Android so changing DHCP pool should not be a problem

@@justanengineer5599 I think that I am already a able to change the DHCP pool. It is set at a range of 100 to 200 for the last digits of the IP-adresses. If that is what you mean by it? I do not know the terminology. But I am not interested in changing that. I need to be able to reserve a specific IP-adress for a specific device. That is, having my router, asign an IP-adress of my choosing to a particular device. I tried several firmwares, Huawei and Telia. None of them had the optíon to do this. Perhaps the ATmod Telia allow for this but installing this to the router simply did not work. It never finished sending the packets to the router.

Adam Loboda can you help me? I am not understand. When i connect to router e5186s-22a with wifi 2,4gherz in settings of laptop can see that only 72.2mbit/s. When connect by 5gherz can see 433mbit/s. Isn't it to be 300mbit/s and 866mbit/s respectively(Or the routers wifi adapter 802.11 b/n/ac is not working?)

Hi, this is only "theorectical" bandwidth of aggregated WIFI channels/bands, not the real speed of your LTE router. Hi. On some versions of E5186 the huawei HiLink API access is blocked and you may need modded software. You may also try to use Huactl Android app and connect to www address of your router via WiFi..

Yes, it is possible. To do it you have to login via WWW interface of the router (192.168.x.x) and switch to 3G for a while and the back to LTE. It also can be done with E5186tool when selecting simply LTE and then "automatic" instead set of bands aggregated like B3+B20

You have to add this particular frequency in configuration file "config.xml" of e5186Toolbox application. Entries (hex numbers for frequency - "lteband") are similar to those for E3276 usb modem. Then you will be able to select particular option from the toolbox menu : add to config.xml file : 700Mhz / B17 10000 700Mhz / B13 1000

Iliad uses Band 1, 3 and 7 : there's a way to aggregate all 3 bands? It looks like that Band 1 has one digit value as well as Band 3 in the config.xml. So it's impossible... Thanks

Its a question if the chip KIRIN that is used inside this router supports this mode. For sure it supports this option on some of bands like 2300MHz, but have no clue if this is supported on others.

Looks like you have your router bricked. You need to use Multicast tool and make a firmware upgrade with recovery image

Elaborate a bit what do you mean IP reservation ? Router has an IP assigned by mobile network provider and in the LAN\WIFI home network you may assign fixed IP on your PC / console / smartphone. The only requirement is this IP has to be from the same IP subnet as is used by DHCP on the CPE router

Is there an equivalent tool available for the Huawei B818? It has 4 band carrier aggregation, but whenever mine includes B28 in the aggregation mix, my speeds hit rock bottom.

Hi, the Huawei B818 is quite new model, something like 1 year on the market. I haven't seen any modded firmware for it yet nor toolbox software like the one for E5186. This is a 4 band LTE CA capable device also suporting MIMO, so the bleeding edge device. I believe you will have to wait at least 1 year more for some modded firmware...

It may be that firmware of your CPE does not allow to connect with E5186 tool. You may need to change firmware to some modded to get it work. My version is : Software version: 21.316.01.00.07 Web UI version: 16.100.02.00.03 (the modded one)
