Nice to see these 15 to 35kms stages finally in EA SPORTS WRC. Last time they got these ultra long stages was in MOBIL 1 RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP back in 2000.

There seems to be more visual feedback of bumps through the suspension. Hopefully all of that movement is perceptible in the control of the car which should add a lot more interest.

If this is driver view, why isn’t there are lateral (roll) rotation of the cabin? There is little pitch of the cabin. It looks as if the car is driving on a smooth road with no bumps. Is there a setting like camera movement that needs to be turned on?

From what I’ve been seeing so far, EA has been pretty transparent, and what reviewers have been saying about it aligns with that. But yea, we shall see!

@@socks2441 Hate to break it to you but it still will take you 20 restarts and 20 catastrophic crashes... cause if you're crashing that much in any game you just don't know how to race in a rally car... rally isn't about speed but about control and finesse... watch this guy run most of the time under 100 kph because if he goes faster then he will crash... well, you probably will crash a lot in this game too... And no, this game is anything BUT arcade... this is how a rally car responds in real life... but of course every Tom, Bob and Pete out there has his opinion on how a rally car should behave and what is "simulation" while obviously has not watched a single rally in his life and basing his opinion on bullshit in his head...

Sure people are saying it's not a proper sim but man it looks hella fun. I love the idea of those long stages. I have played a lot of RBR and there are some epic stages in that which were a nice challenge just to survive 🤣

Thanks for watching. I will admit, I’m not smart enough to accurately answer those questions. The aero effects are noticeable, but it’s hard to fully appreciate them since most of the testing Ive done has been on gravel and there is deliberate loss of traction versus aggressive aero that maintains traction. But broadly, the handling model and physics stand up nicely. The cars feel great.

It’s the biggest let down for me about this game to date. What gives me hope is that a) Unreal engine obviously supports triples, and b) DiRT 2.0 launched without VR but it was added later, so hopefully we see the same with WRC

It doesn't really look like you have to be "up on the wheel" that much considering you are in a rally1 car on narrow gravel roads. Is that just the look of it? It just seems a bit too stable overall?

Is the FOV range "good enough" to sort of compensate for the lack of proper triples support? By good enough I mean like in F1 23 cockpit cam. Also, is that FOV range applicable in all the camera views? In F1 23 disappointingly it's only available in cockpit. The rest of the cameras have very limited FOV.

Hi, just found your video - you mentioned damages were turned on - forgive my ignorance but does that mean damages can be turned off because they couldn't be in Dirt Rally 2 if I remember and I feel this held us back too much in that game and spoiled the experience - so it would be nice if they were turn-off-able like in other games.

why on earth would you want damage turned off? but im sure you could turn hardcore damage off, which presumably still leaves you with some damage on. but why on earth would you want to play a rally game where there is no damage or consequences?

it might be more realistic, but i dont like how the cars are glued to the ground. the suspension never looks like it unloads on the downside of crests etc let alone ever actually going airborne. so as a fan of dirt rally i am not liking the look of this new game. i am in the minority though. which usually means i am wrong. which in that sense i guess i am. but in the sense of personal preference you cant be wrong. its different for everyone, and for me i preferred losing traction over bumps/ hills/ crests etc. i also preferred the cars having overall less grip and more consequences for mistakes.

I think you might be surprised. Have a look at better drivers like Jarno Opmeer and Jardier and how they got on with the game. They can push a car far harder than I can, and it gives a better sense of grip levels than I portrayed in this video

I see where he’s coming from with preferring less grip for a challenge but dirt rally 2.0 just felt off. I don’t know what it was but the grip was slightly too little. Like corners that looked flat out were sometimes a 4 or a 3 and it got annoying for a driver like me who likes the thrill of speed

Not a jab in the slightest, but do any of the modern rally cars use paddle shifters now? Asking more for authenticity's sake since I have an H-pattern and sequential stick at the ready as well.

Current gen? No. But many from a few years back do. It’s a great question though. I often have to look for on-boards from various cars to find out how they were shifted. Push/pull paddle shift is quite common, which I find interesting.

there was briefly a period where paddle shifters were banned and you needed a sequential lever. but as far as i know all modern rally cars use paddleshifters. i personally prefer to use a lever though as its more fun. but the previous dirt rally games allow you to use h patter, h pattern with clutch, sequential, sequential with clutch, sequential with auto clutch plus manual clutch override, paddleshifters etc on any car. @@acemczero88

It treats my triple screens as a single monitor, unfortunately. So it outputs a resolution of 5760 x 1080, but without correct triple screen correction. To be honest, I’m disappointed in that fact. One of the few letdowns of the game so far.

@@SimRacing604 Ya rally is so seat of the pants. You can run the same stsge 10 times. But a bad bump here and there and it could change the next 1/4 mile or so gathering it up again. It's impossible to place the car in the right place every time through. Track racing is fun, but once in the zone laps become muscle memory.

10:00 thats because the game is too easy and not punishing mistakes enough. if i had been pushing hard for 15 minutes, i would have had to restart 20 times from catastraphic crashes. i do not like what this game is turning out to be. p.s -i mean, by easy i mean everyone will be good at it, but there will still be people far far better at it than others. kind of like the new zealand stages in dirt rally 2, they were super easy, fun and flowy. but it made it hard to get a good time because it was so easy. for everyone. i barely play the new zealand stages. scotland, argentina and greece are my favourite. then wales, then new england, then new zealand, then poland, then monaco, then finland, then australia, then germany, then lastly spain. at a guess.
