The KZ PR1 Pro exists, has been fairly well reviewed, and is around $80. Hopefully Dan will get past his KZ disdain and give them a fair shot. I enjoy my DQ6S, no matter what anyone says, and I have a PR1 Pro on the way. Its tuning is actually similar to the OG Zetian Wu and Timeless, so they shouldn't be dismissed, plus they're just getting started on the planar train.

I have Kiwi Cadenza, Dioko, S12 Pro, Moondrop Variations and Yanyin Mahina. And yes, at a price of 100 dollars and below, Dioko has almost no rivals, especially in terms of technicality, resolution and detail.

@@lifeisbeautiful7361 probably not a proper seal on the rig for the EA500. And it in fact does sound very different than the others in real life but it sounds nowhere near what the demo makes it sound like. It has excellent note weight in real life and very forward intimate vocals which do not sound shouty whatsoever as the demo would suggest actually it has the best vocals of the three in real life. It doesn’t sound as small as the demo suggests either it has a rather wide soundstage but very forward it has a very intense large in your face sound in real life. It is also extremely detailed for a DD probably the most detailed DD I’ve ever heard in the sub $200 price range I would even argue it has as good if not better detail retrieval than the Dioko. Trust me I have compared all three many times and the EA500 sounds better than the Dioko but not better than the Hey Dey but I wouldn’t expect it to at $60 vs $200. But I will say there are times when I prefer the EA500 over the Hey Dey I go back and forth between the Hey Dey, S12, and EA500 all the time with the EA500 sounding the most different.

Heyday sounds the fullest from low, mid and high. Dioko sounds more neutral and the high is a little bit more airy than heyday. EA500's mid sounds like a cheap speaker in this demo. 🤔

I asked about the WU Heyday last time and here it is! Thank you! :) The quick comparison tells me that my new WU's were a good buy. Right now they are my favorite IEM. I like the warmer sound as it allows extended listening without fatigue. Still curious how they might stack up against the 7Hz Timeless.....

I bought the Dioko,I use the LGV30,the phone with a quad DAC,24 BIT,MQA,75 ohm,and a headphone jack,I tried it out of the box for 10 miinutes,then burned them in 150 hours,I can eq,lots of Bass,yeah I'm good.You tell diff when you burn,big time.

Curious which nozzle is on the Simgots, most hype around the set seems to be around the one with the Dark Magician tuning. I’ll have to give it another listen on something that isn’t my open ear bone conduction set, but EA500 feels outmatched in clarity for sure

I want to comment on the EA500’s apparent poor sound compared to the other two here. The EA500 actually has quite a nice sound when you try them on their own. However, the brain really seems to feel off by it when we are exposed to things as unique and great sounding as the DIOKO and Heyday. A full review, where other competition is shared, would go a long way to showing how the EA500 can be impressive compared to much out there. I pretty much went for the toughest competition out there with this short. It isn’t the most fair. But hopefully the point I’m making here is that we shouldn’t just assume hype = better than what’s already available! Enough with that!

To me the simgot doesnt sound bad at all (demo), actually it can be heard the the driver is quite capable, impacful detailed with better technicalities the the Wu. Nitpick would be only bass quantity, quality is all there.

I’m going to be honest this sound demo is very misleading. I normally love your sound demos and reviews but I own all three of these IEMs and have compared them quite a bit. The EA500 sounds nothing like your sound demo in person it is way more detailed has way better note weight and sound stage width and depth and much cleaner intimate vocals. The EA500 actually sounds way better than the Dioko in person same with the Hey Dey which also sounds better than the Dioko in person. The Dioko has a rather boring tuning out of the three and for that reason I almost never use it although I do think it looks cool.

IMO: Simgot sounds boxy and shouty, heyday is warm but not in a very smooth and pleasant way, Dioko is the all around better with forward wide and very balanced while still bright sound. EDIT: it's interesting, I read in the other comments that people love the heyday for pushing the bass guitar but it was very audible on the dioko, I could hear it almost n the back of my head in the middle and it sounds tight and warm, the heyday I feel drowns the synth because of the bass being very wide and flubby. I know those are not the real sounds coming from the headphones but by comparing over many videos I realized I might not be the basshead I thought and prefer balance and tight sound. Thanks Dan!

Not true in person. The EA500 actually has the best vocals of the three and is not shouty or boxy it is however the most forward of the three. Hey Dey sounds way better than the Dioko in person it has more air more detailed better imaging and soundstage depth and better bass.

kinda late but keep in mind you're hearing this recording after it was compressed by rendering, compressed by youtube itself and through your own headphones/earphones/whatever sound system you use, there's not really telling how any of these sound irl, they might sound similar to the recording but they could very well also sound completely different, best suggestion would be to go down to a hifi/audio store and try out differently tuned IEMs if they allow you to, so you can get a feel for how they actually sound irl, the recording you hear here is just a very broad and general idea of what these IEMs might sound like

I own the EA500 this is not accurate at all to how it actually sounds. I sometimes prefer the EA500 over the Hey Dey and I own all three of these. The Dioko I actually like the least in person.

This is not really how the ea500 sounds at all. I think the tips are just not pushed in enough. The ea500s move some serious air, whereas in this demo they sound thin, which is not right. I'm listening to this demo on the EA500s and they sound like cheap budget shite. Makes me wonder about this demo rig, it's so bloody inaccurate. I have the S12s too, and I'll tell you, the EA500s have almost the same body with more forward vocals. One thing they also do not say about the EA500 is it shifts a ton of air unlike the planars.
