I have one of these rods too. They are a lot of fun.

The weight of it is good practice

I love my Eagle Claw. My main rod is a 9ft Reddington Trout Classic 5wt with an Orvis Battenkill II spooled up with 5wt Cortland; is amazing but I needed something smaller for fishing brookies up in the boundary water streams. I picked one of these up and just swap my battenkill right on and run it with 5wt line. Having the extra line weight makes tossing dry flies a dream and its so fun to nail even the smallest fish on!

Interesting. I think that's a good idea. I might try that. I have a lamson liquid on the way so ill have more options

You make fly fishing look easy. I gotta follow your method because mine isn't working 😂

Dude. I'm only like 2 weeks into fly fishing. Been watching a ton of casting instructionals. Best advice I have is to slow down. Let the line play out in the back cast try to feel the pull as you cast forward smoothly. Its so much fun it makes you want to do it more and more which makes you improve rapidly.

Point your rod tip close to the ground then bring it 2o”clock behind you then keep whipping it back and forth until you see where you want to cast then let the line go

That little setup seems to work great! Looks super sensitive.

Right. Its extremely accurate too. So much fun to cast. Its a fiberglass blank so its very forgiving and smooth. Much cheaper than the $600 orvis rod the guy was trying to sell me at the local shop. Lol. And it catches just as many fish ill bet

No doubt! I bet it does. I think us anglers forget sometimes that the fish have no clue what type of gear we are using or how much it cost!😂

Cannot be beat for the price! Mine is greatly appreciated in small streams. A great value for the money!

Sorry for delayed response! I'm pretty sure these rods are indestructible lol I have the 5/6 wt too but haven't tried it out yet. Still looking for a good reel on sale. Btw its a great rod. It has its own rhythm which is a little slow but its totally enjoyable to fish with. Especially for the price. I saw some video where a guy caught a honker musky on one

Those flys seemed very big for 3wt.
@DrDitchpickle Жыл бұрын
Yeah they are big but they are really fun to fish with especially for the price. The extra weight is a good workout for your forearm.

The trick with these rods is Cortland 333 Double Taper Line

I'll try some. Thanks for the tip

What weight?
@MrRourk4 ай бұрын
@@123BV8 generally with the yellow Eagle Claws go 1 wt higher than listed on the rod. So if it says 3wt. Then a 4wt will work best.
