Alex, long time ghost watcher here. Like you’ve always taught us, do it right the first time and be done. Have that motor looked at top to bottom rather than wondering IF anything else was done improperly. Considering that motor needs to handle 1200hp+, I would not leave anything to chance. Spend the money for your peace of mind and hopefully it will live a long life.

The lower bearing should NOT be missing the coating, I would always expect to see bearing wear on the rod side bearing first. It looks to me like a clearance issue. Crank looks good so it looks like it was caught early. I work on a few oems that use that style of coated bearing and even after 100k plus the coating is usually intact.

@@Twobarpsino shit these are super expensive and it's very nicely modified on good fuel in crazy good conditions with a very good driver lol. I went 6.5 in 55 degrees and 1600 da in a 740 rwhp 07 gt500 that was at the time about 4100 lbs with my big ass in it. That was before I did headers so it was like 725 I'm also 100 lbs lighter now it should go couple tenths quicker in similar conditions as before i could see low 6s with real good conditions like that not too bad for a fat mustang with worse aero I barely have 30k in mine including mods if that. It has a gen3r btw and I'm on 93/boostane. These things are fast and badass but they cost alot more than most mustangs especially in a similar year range.

Fun fact Alex. My 2023 Whipple tuned whipple f150 with 5,146 miles already blew out the drivers side cat. I’m going LTH long tubes and a return style fuel system and going to Lund with the tuning. If I’m blowing out catalytic converters in 4K miles after supercharging I don’t have much faith in the Whipple tune.

I agree with @bmautowerx. That coating shouldnt be worn/scratched off unevenly like I. I check bearing on every LS when I gap the rings. And the heat marks? If they were there before, the crank should have been trashed. But the shiny area of that bearing says a whole lot.

I have one major concern. On the rod end cap it is worn in the exact area where the crank saw heat. I don’t think those hot spots are old. Even then the crank should have been milled smooth again and clearly it wasn’t done. The crank is golden brown in the same area that the cap is worn. Time stamp 2:58

Hi Alwx. I understand how you feel about engine builders. Can I suggest a couple I had good luck with personally? I had a 4.6 done by PK Machine in Massachusetts. Paul is extremely thorough and knowledgeable with Ford Modulars. I sold my built Saleen years ago with his motor and it has been through 3 owners since. It is still going strong. This was a built 4.6 2v with a Kenne Bell 2.8, yes 2.8 HO custom kit. 26 psi. 700 RWHP. Another place I had experience with is JDM with a built Trinity. They too are knowledgeable and pretty reliable. I would try Paul Kraus though 1st. Give him a call and pick his brain.

Being in terrible DA (4k at best) I knew you would get into the 5's easy with cooler weather. Some lightweight drag wheels on a radial or bias ply and 2nd gear torque to get you moving and you could get even further into the 5's. E85, and a cam and you should get that 4 second 60-130.

It may not be quicker starting in 2nd even if you shift super fast like he does sometimes the shift is worse for you than just starting in the next gear it depends on gearing it's something you just have to test with but it won't necessarily always go quicker in that situation.

I've seen those heat marks on the crank when the mallory balancing weights are tig welded into the crankshaft... with that said though, that bearing looks like shit. Either the builder re used the bearings (which is shameful cause any engine builder would see the condition of that bearing and throw it in the trash), or he put in new rod bearings and got clearances wrong. On certain crankshafts, it requires a chamfered bearing and rod to be facing the correct direction. The chamfer is supposed to face out so that it doesn’t make contact with the crankshaft. There are no other possibilities on why the bearing looks like that, I'm just hoping the main bearings don't look like that as well.

If you watch his videos and listen to him speak, in my opinion he is like the Lund of engine building Also, I just went back and watched the teardown video on your channel, he doesn’t pull off rod cap number two like you did, but he pulled off the one right next to it and it had a single line in it and he noted that a piece of trash went through it. You’ve taught me a lot but not much tbh. Ford taught me way more and the new s650 tech opened my mind. Tik tok explained the importance of breaking in my vehicle and I realized how much hp was on the table. I had no idea the s650 unlocked 50hp once you broke it in. That was mind opening to me. I then watched your videos on mods and that’s when I realized you didn’t know what you were talking about. I’ve super broken in my car well past 1k miles and by my estimations, I’m at 1000 horse power because I’ve put in about 100k miles. So basically I figured out that modding is pointless and it makes way more sense to upgrade my horse power by braking in my car more. Thank you tik tok and thank you s650 🙏🏼 “full bolt on” yea okay bud , how many miles you got.
