Andre, i want to caution you about being tempted to fish without a license. I dont know about your area of the country, but some areas fines can be steep, and can result in misdemeanor charges as well. You will want to know the regulations very well.

rate per mile is based on current market rates and what brokers customers pay for the freight. Sometimes its a bit more sometimes even less depending where the driver is, competition in the area etc.

Depends on how many miles you can clear non stop. Also depends if you can drive all night when needed and it's needed 90% of the time. Drivers gross anywhere from 2500 to 3500 weekly on average. Talking about good drivers who can drive.

lol... No more than that. The only expense I have is fuel and insurance. Insurance is $400 a month plus fuel. All maintenance is done by me so not much expenses here.

@@Chad-wk2pm Correct. maintenance also means wear & tear as well. As a semi owner operator, I automatically take out a percentage for vehicle maintenance. On a little van it doesn’t need to be much, be he should be calculating some for maintenance/Parts. Also a percentage for taxes. To be transparent, it would be nice to see a breakdown of all fixed & variable cost broken down to cents per mile. If you don’t know what your tires per mile costs is,(and each/all expenses)how can you be accurate about your profit margins. What is the actual cost per mile to run a van? Is it .40pm? .50pm? .30pm? I’m interested in having a backup van for expediting, in case my Semi goes down or lose my CDL.

They know buying trucks are a loosing proposition, so they pass the "loss" onto the unwitting O/O independent contractor. Lol! They say; "We only accept industry standards late model, high roof, extended, Sprinter class." I say, Go ahead and buy a fleet of them, and I'll drive it." No??? Why not???😊

If you're planning to get your own loads then you do need MC and DOT numbers. But if you lease on with a carrier then no.
