If I owned a community in a hurricane prone area, I would only allow stilted homes, made of cinderblock and their shape would have to be round. With a round house, the winds wrap around the structure following it's shape. Compared to a square or rectangular shaped house that gets the full force of the wind against a flat wall. There is nowhere for the wind to go, bcuz it's not being deverted to go around the structure. So gust after gust pummels that flat surface, eventually knocking down the wall

Great video! This is the problem living so close to the ocean at that elevation. Won't be the last time!

That's probably an electric car. Lithium batteries and water don't mix. (I heard in a hurricane warning.)

Keep in mind, everything you’ve seen so far was under 3-4’ of water. So all those beachfront businesses…. Yep…

Horrible. We used to live in Crestview and lost it all in Frederick in '78. We're not there anymore but I miss it. Never forget what I didn't permanently block out. And that was nowhere near what this mess is. I really feel for people right now. Like the man said, even after the actual storm is gone, that's still a dangerous situation happening. I really hope they get people supplies and safe. It's really frightening when the storm is happening and then the power goes out and you're just stuck in the dark. Waiting. Surrounded by water. It's so scary. This is craziness.

"get that sand out from where it shouldn't be" - I mean, really - the sand is going exactly where it should be - it's us that need to do some adjusting.

None of us r working on beach. The vessel I work on was out for "dry dock" since September 1st. We were scheduled to restart September 26th for the "power boat races. Aunty Helen said NOPE im coming" canceled. " We were hoping we'd still get to work Friday & sat.. .. Of course, we didn't know till early morning how bad the storm surge was.. Since we haven't worked in a month. Most of us work paycheck to paycheck.. Eviction is a real fear. I try to stay positive since many ppl died ^ or lost everything. 🐬🌴🦜💙🐊🌈

That boat slip area at 15:07 that is the Clearwater Beach municipal marina. The building had about 3’ of water inside. 90% of the normal tenants are not even there as is evident by all the empty slips. The fuel dock at the far east end is destroyed.
@noneya615 сағат бұрын
I am intimately familiar with that portion of Clearwater Beach. The first sand dunes he came across in the first parking lot. That’s the beach rec center and library parking lot. The rec center and library are destroyed inside from water as is the marina further down by that other parking lot.

Salt water intrusion on any vehicle, electric or internal combustion, can catch fire due to the corrosive properties of salt water. It’s only a matter of when that more cars will catch fire, and whatever they’re next to.

A cleanup that just creates more carbon and makes the problem worst. We need to change our expectations.
@ryanfraser1678 сағат бұрын
Nope, humans are made of carbon and it is what gives us our civilisation, only thing that allows quick recovery from hurricanes like this
