Enjoyed the reaction. Thank you for reacting to this band. I've been into the J-metal/rock scene for a few years now, but discovered this group maybe a little over a year ago. Rock/metal is not nearly as popular in South Korea as it is in Japan. So these ladies don't get the attention they deserve in my opinion. It didn't help that they formed right before the pandemic (much like Nemophila). They just wrapped up a tour in the US. They played small venues, but sold out each one they played. So I'd imagine they'll be back if the tour was lucrative. They have great originals ("Blaze", "Delight"), but they also do great covers. Their take on Maneskin's "Zitti E. Buoni" is really cool. They even dip their toes a little into K-Pop doing a cover of Blackpink's "Pink Venom" they call "Pink Drop" in collaboration with Korean Pop artist, "AleXa". Great band. They refer to their fan base as the "Diadem" Ja Young - Lead Vocal Iree - Guitar (Orange hair) Hyunjung - Guitar (Blue Hair) Arem - Bass Young Eun - Drums While you'e in Korea, you might also check out DIH. I just recently discovered them. Again, all female hard rock/metal. They have a great sound too. Check out their recent release, "Not Enough"

I had not heard of DIH before and just checked them out, and my initial impression is that I like the personality of Rolling Quartz better - but they are a close second. The female fronted rock scene is looking amazing right now Between DIH, Rolling Quartz, and The Warning. .

Loads of talent backed up by beautiful ladies is this band. Dive in, they are well worth it. Just check out the smile on Iree's face all the time(red hair gutarist.) The official version is worth watching as it gives you a better perspective of each of the ladies. They kill it live here as well.

Some random facts: 1. They have just been on their first US tour, you missed them. :( 2. They were made from parts of two groups: Rose Quartz (Jayoung, Hyunjung, Young-eun) and Rolling Girls (Iree, Arem). 3. They are part of the Hongdae independent/rock/punk scene; Hongdae is a neighborhood of Seoul with many small clubs and venues. Such music exists in S. Korea, but it is far more underground than in Japan. As you can see, their way out of the underground is trying to appeal to both rock fans and K-pop fans (via the esthetics). That seems to work well, they have a lot of fans who come from K-pop and don't seem to listen to much rock otherwise. They also seem to appeal majorly to lesbians, and they do play with that here and there in their music videos. 4. They have few original tracks, which for me is their greatest drawback. This song here, Azalea, is also a cover by a Korean pop rock singer who goes by the name of Maya and was active some 10 years ago. They have covered The Pretty Reckless, Lady Gaga, Korean punk, Dreamcatcher, a bit of Steve Vai and Metallica, and and and... They only have a literal handful of original tracks. However, they are a very good cover band. For an original track, try "Blaze" or "Delight", and if you don't mind a bit of vampirism, "Holler". 5. Their live shows are said to be very lively (haha), with a party atmosphere and a lot of engagement of the audience etc. They exist since 2018 or so and have been playing small clubs regularly and often all that time, and that seems to show. 6. Arem, the bassist (nickname: Rumi), does a lot of vlogging on her KZbin channel. Her stage persona is famously dark-ish and "badass" (she says herself, "Let's turn into Arem" when she's getting ready for the stage), but her vlogs are delightfully quirky and random with a bit of sly humor put in. www.youtube.com/@rumi1004

I love to see another Rolling Quartz reaction, they deserve much more attention. I don't think I can add any details that aren't already shared by other commenters, but encourage you to check out the rest of their tracks. My favorites are Rock and Roll Paradise and Nazababara.

Rolling Quartz has got a lot of great music, mostly in the rock genre. "Blaze" and "Good Night: are great songs too, along with their many cover songs. There is another great band called DIH from Korea too that you might like. From DIH I would suggest the live version of "Break Out" or "Not Enough" and any of their cover songs.

as others said, rock isn't really popular in south korea. actual K-rock labeled band usually don't get fair attention from the public there. at first, kpop group called MINX failed to serve cute concept and decided to rebrand as Dreamcatcher, plus using rock/metal flavor in kpop structure from 2017. they have a song titled "Good Night" (later Rolling Quartz did remake) which has a multi-meaning lyric, and one of them can be used for like "welcome to the rock world, just come and join in" from the lyric "welcome to my dreamworld, come come come in only look at me". Rolling Quartz had official debut titled Blaze which lyrically meaning like this rock sound is what they want to do, and feel confident on it. then they did remake to Dreamcatcher's Good Night which is perfect following that Blaze meaning. basically both Dreamcatcher and Rolling Quartz have close connection (actually if you see rounded lightstick close to the stage in this video, it's dreamcatcher official lightstick), RQ's drummer (Yeongeun) also a drum teacher of one member from DC (Handong). also DC members were promoting RQ for their comeback with Good Night as title track. unfortunately they haven't been on official stage together.. yet.
