Don Felder got fired by Glen, because he asked to see the Eagles Accounting Books. Felder was an equal member with Glen and Don Henley. Felder sued and got the money he was shorted, but was never allowed back into the eagles.

Randy, Bernie and Don all expressed regret for their actions that led to their leaving the band. Henley and Frey are proud of themselves for running those guys out. That's the difference between good men and bad.

God I remember these guys and I love them so much and I'm amazed and I'm still alive I'm 72 years old a lot of my friends are gone just lost my best friend for 58 years passed away I always thought I would go before her I just thank God I'm still here yes we're losing a lot of the 70s band members and it's so sad because I grew up with these guys listening to him and I love all of them all the bands were great back in the seventies

@@dsoule4902 Frey was definitely more than likely the instigator, however Henley is a typical music genius / head case. I’m pretty sure The Lord himself and Frey preyed on Meisner, Leadon, and Felder, whereas Leadon and Meisner moved on while Felder put up his dukes. Hence the reason Felder will be forever left out. Great band of Uber talented individuals that all wanted their fair share in their own ways. It’s too bad, but Henley will never let bygones be. It’s not about the fans, it’s all about his ego!

Full disclosure, I'm a huge Joe Walsh fan. Met him several times and he is just a down to earth real person. Bill Szymczyk coming over to the Eagles then Walsh? Divine intervention for sure. I would love to have dinner with Bill as much as with Walsh. Heck add Vitale and I'll pick up the check. Absolutely interesting music through the years that hit me. At least in Henley's case, he has the talent to back up being a douche, a world class vocalist and lyricist that few can match. You put up with him for his abilities. With Glenn, jeez, musically he was the most unremarkable guy in the band, albeit he had the ambition and vision some of the others didn't.

Thanks for posting this. I love this channel(new find). I'm so glad Bill took over production for Eagles- how cool that he was doing sonar in the Navy before that. I feel that Glenn Frey gets a lot of hate because most fans think a band is more of a clubhouse than an actual job and an actual business. You have to show up to work everyday - you have to sing all the songs and you have to do what's best for the band(not yourself) always. I will always love all 7 Eagles forever.❤

You are so right about the hate aimed at Frey. Few fans understand how bands work, or don't.I get really tired of the "Felder was screwed" crowd. He wasn't and his own book explains it. He'll never darken an Eagles' stage again, so get used to it. We've moved on and they are still a great band,. Get over yourselves.

Frey was an ass. Responsible for at least three members leaving the band. Sorry but that’s a fact. Proven by the other fact that the band basically was finished after that. Last decent record was 47 years ago.

In fact They started the Eagles with Meisner,Henley,Frey, (by Linda R.) and later on Joe and Don Felder. They started their band the Eagles. Meisner wrote songs too!! But henley and Frey both wanted to be the leader and they said only they wrote songs. Not true. And that was a big mistake, problems started. So sad it went that way. Together with 5 voices sounds very good, perfect. BUT Randy made the sound special with his awesome voice. Now it's over. Better when 2 of them passed away. They will never be the original Eagles again. THANKS FOR THE MUSIC YOU GAVE US.

Wish some of that had rubbed off on Frey. But maybe that's what He & Henley were going for. Use the vinegar to remove as many equal members as possible, so they could hire world class musicians, as just hourly labor. I found it hard to believe it, when I read that Joe & Timothy were never made actual members. I'd love to find out that was false.

Give all the credit to Joe Walsh for bringing Bill into the fold. Through the James Gang and subsequent Barnstorm albums, Bill was a crucial part of Joe's recorded sound, and of course Joe was managed by Azoff, etc. and eventually they got together. Bill made all the difference.

I believe the problem was with the original forming of the band where Glen and Don were very liberal in the leadership and song writing credits of the material. As time went on, leadership really was these two guys and the others felt their critiques. They should have formed the band with them as the leaders instead of acting like it was everybody for whatever they wanted to do. Too many chefs in the stew makes for bad stew.

Frey might’ve been the biggest jerk in any famous band. The fact that he finagled a writing credit for Hotel California despite not writing the music or lyrics (claimed the “concept”) is proof enough of his toxicity as a band mate. He was talented in his own right but just a miserable musician.

Normally when everyone around you seems like an a-hole, then you are the a-hole. I think Glenn’s ego was hard to deal with. But probably necessary to be as successful as they were. Kind of like Paul McCartney. Ringo said thank god he was like that or they would have never made any albums.

To those who sympathize with the termination of band members by Glenn Frey and Don Henley - GET OVER IT. It's a BUSINESS. Like Henley said there can't be 5 leaders. It was Glenn and Don's band. You may not like their choices but RESPECT them. Don't take it all so personally. Genius ( Glenn & Don ) promotes Jealousy.
