How To Get Scout Rank - First Rank In Scouts BSA (Part 1)

Hey guys, Mac Guzman here. This video is how to get Scout Rank as of September 28, 2019. Since it has a lot of concepts to cover, I will be splitting it into separate videos. This video goes over how to learn the scout oath, law, outdoor code, motto, and slogan, as well as other topics.
This rank is different from the other ranks because it provides the basis onto which every beginner Scout should know and understand.
How can you work towards these requirements? What helps you understand these concepts

What does the scout, oath, law, outdoor code, motto, and slogan mean?
Here is an overview of Requirement 1 for Scout Rank:
1a. Repeat from memory the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout motto, and Scout slogan. In your own words, explain their meaning.
1b. Explain what Scout spirit is. Describe some ways you have shown Scout spirit by practicing the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout motto, and Scout slogan.
1c. Demonstrate the Scout sign, salute, and handshake. Explain when they should be used.
1d. Describe the First Class Scout badge and tell what each part stands for. Explain the significance of the First Class Scout badge.
1e. Repeat from memory the Outdoor Code. In your own words, explain what the Outdoor Code means to you.
1f. Repeat from memory the Pledge of Allegiance. In your own words, explain its meaning.
Scout Oath:
On my honor, I will do my best,
to do my duty,
to God and my country,
to obey the Scout Law,
to help other people at all times,
to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Scout Law: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Outdoor Code:
As an American, I will do my best,
to be clean in my outdoor manners,
to be careful with fire,
to be considerate in the outdoors,
and to be conservation minded.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) includes Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts), Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Exploring. The BSA has 2.4 million youth participants and nearly one million adult volunteers. For the first time in its 100+ year history, Boy Scouts is open to both young men and young women aged 11-17. The BSA National Council is classified by the IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit and qualifies as a charitable organization.

I’m currently a First class scout, almost have Star, the 18th I believe this month I can earn it, been in about a year and s half, working hard. I believe you can do something similar to this too!

Swimming, emergency prep, rifle shooting, and first aid. I’m working on Scholarship, reading, cooking, both citizenships, and some other ones I can’t put my finger on.

This video was exactly 2 years ago since I joined scouts which is less then a month abut this time of October 16th 2021. And I got my Boy Scouts BSA today and I done everything in this video already, I just have to do the rest. I'm going to Edit this comment every time I get a rank.

That's too bad. How was your experience with Scouting? Do you have a fond memories?

I’ll never forget it as long as I live I’m proud to have had this experience in my life it’s a big part of what made me the man I am today. Although it was probably different from most because I spent most of my time in troop 30 from tender foot - life , then I changed to troop 27 to get my eagle so every Tuesday night I had to take an hour drive back & forth after school which was a bit to get used too, but I enjoyed it all the same! 😂

Should scouts be segregated? I'm an eagle scout but I just don't know. I feel like it would've been harder to get everything, if I had girls there. Young boys are cruel .. it's hard to know one way or the other

I look at it like school. You have classroom with both boys and girls (group activities). You have separate bathrooms (tenting). You have separate boys & girls sport teams (physical activities).
