This was the best Eames chair video I have ever seen, makes me wonder why the hell Herman Miller doesn't have a video like this? I am into chairs and even I didn't know all this stuff. As much money as you have made them they should be giving you tours of the factories etc etc.

was walking by a Herman Miller store in NYC one day and decided to pop in to sit on the Eames. Was very surprised at how an $8000 chair didn't support my neck at all (I believe it was a regular version and I'm about 5'8'') and it was an immediate deal breaker for me. Perfectly happy with my $100 Ikea Poang chair for now lol

Great video, after a few months living with a very good replica. I just ordered a standard with Ottoman and 2100 black leather. I was debating between the ebony and the walnut but i went with the walnut since it is more classic Eames

Great review (I sell ELOs and it was very concise). Vicenza is actually an aniline leather from Spinneybeck. I called out the error on the DWR website, but Herman Miller has not changed theirs. Being an aniline, it patinas nicely (creases, buttons, etc) but people often think there is something wrong with the leather. 2100 series does not get the respect it deserves. It’s HM proprietary leather, so it is still an excellent choice (mine obviously).

Im getting into woodworking, with the goal of making a chair. Ive been studying the Eames, but you've brought up some bonkers level facts I had no clue about. Excellent research/breakdown, this is inspiring me even further with my design! I'll have to send you one in the future once i get it dialed in 💯

@Ahnestly I'll certainly try lol. At any rate, I found your channel only a few weeks ago, and have been taking lots of notes! These vids on the Eames feel serendipitous and did not disappoint! I hope to have a fully finished prototype within the next 12 ish months, but I'll happily send you one for some Ahnest feedback and publicity 💯

i never knew the standard version was made for 5 feet tall people.. i mean.. thats almost actual dwarfism height guess maybe aesthetics of the chair weighed heavier than comfort
@Ahnestly5 ай бұрын
I was honestly a little confused as well. I could see the seat depth being an issue for shorter folks on the Tall size, but even then...the chair is already pretty short!
@ssiddi24 ай бұрын
it wasnt. herman miller suggests the standard is fine for ppl under 6 ft. i'm 5'9 and although i found the tall more comfortable, the standard was still great as well.
@KeithWong19723 ай бұрын
A full aniline chair means that the pores are open, so they tend to develop a patina over use. They are also more likely to stain if you were to spill wine or coffee on it. I would be pretty scared to even sit on a white full aniline chair. How has yours held up?

Prone and stow are not better or worse than each other, just different. Stow is able to come in more colors.
@Ahnestly5 ай бұрын
@@russharris8964 prone is slightly thicker and costs more than stow. It also seems the dye they use is darker on the stow compared to the prone. Prone and all grain cost the same, whereas stow is lower in price.
@michaelomalley3403Ай бұрын
Prone is the middle tier and Stow the top tier, in terms of pricing. They both are made by Maharam and have the same color palette. Stow has more of a shiny appearance in person, and Prone more matte.
