the actual original is the Hernan Miller... the Vitra, is an officially licensed replica made for the European market... all of the others are fakes and unlicensed replicas.

You can not say replica to a Vitra. China make replica’s In matter of fact Charles & Ray made for Herman Miller under there own license “his” version. Because Eames needed a coarse to sell for.

There actually is a case to be made for "replicas", as they call it. Considering that the Eamses were all about producing AFFORDABLE, durable quality furniture accessible to EVERYBODY, it's almost a joke to see that this iconic classic has become a Status Symbol for a select few, instead of what it's creators had originally intended. Even though the 670 was their first foray into higher price furniture, the original cost was no where near the artificially driven up, ridiculously high price you have to pay nowadays for an original. Ironically, there's even two manufacturers who offer the licensed "original" nowadays, so that in itself should tell everybody that it's all about the Design itself, and not about who produces it and gets to slap a ridiculous pricetag on a piece of iconic, classic furniture that everybody should have a fair chance of getting their hands on.

Rod Schermerhorn Do not agree but I’m a person that puts value on heritage, character, and authenticity on the Eames and what they stood for...

Carsten Neugebauer calculator the cost of inflation, current manufacturing by hand not by Chinese labor, and the fact its a timeless piece. Other furniture is accessible like IKEA.

@@CarstenNeugebauer Glad someone knows the history. I think Charles and Ray would me more than happy to have their furniture at IKEA. Because they wanted mass production of their furniture, not being exclusive for the happy few. So I think its safe to say that if you find a GOOD replica why not buy that one instead of the "licensed" ones, but I mean a good replica, no corners cut. Its what the Eameses would do themselves and I think they would be pretty upset if they could see for how much their furniture goes these days.
