I wonder how many tiny people became musicians that day. All it took was hearing Beethoven on a CD in 1993 to send chills up my little spine. Years later I became a 1st chair trumpet player, then guitar player and singer eventually winning a scholarship to college for my efforts. Music unlocks the soul, and strengthens the mind. For all of my life upon hearing Bolero there is a physical and emotional response for me. No matter how many times or what version it is the same response. To me one of the most powerful compositions ever done that had no lyrics.
@tarkjones2 жыл бұрын
I have the same response to this piece. There's an extremely interesting episode of the Radiolab podcast that talks about Ravel, Bolero, and Anne Adams, a Canadian biologist turned artist who became obsessed with the piece shortly before discovering she had aphasia. She created a painting that represented the music in Bolero, bar by bar. The interesting thing is Ravel also suffered from an undetermined neurological issue shortly before his death It's hypothesized that he may also have had aphasia, and that it may have played a part in the repetitive nature of Bolero as he composed it.
@j.d.schultzsr.9215 Жыл бұрын
Bolero can often sound like it was written for impromptu performance. When I was a student at San Diego State as I marched through a courtyard on my way to evening class, I was delighted to hear a lone woman playing the insistent haunting refrain in the palmtree-filtered sunset on bassoon. Unforgettable!! So much talent echoing in such a beautiful edifice, clearly renders THIS one of the best flashmob performances EVER!!

¡Muchas gracias! Beautiful! How nice! Musicians are blessed beings, they are Gods! They are capable of doing something as magical as music, which is not visible, which is not palpable, but it is indisputably real, that catches us causing us an enchantment that subjugates us and enraptures us. Sometimes I think that the only way to end wars on earth is to use music as a weapon! It was very nice to enjoy the moment! Thank you very much!

I did sing with a choir in our local mall once. And sang in Handel’s Messiah so I was blessed to be on a dvd. Things I will never forget. Haven’t been in a flash mob yet though.

If humans made music instead of fighting, and battles were held by Dueling Banjos, what a world we could have!
You are so right if we organize something worldwide with all the technology available if only for one day everyone soldiers terrorists ordinary people put down all weapons hatreds & have one huge flash mob of any music classical whatever I am a dreamer

@@olgab7998 We dream, but greed and selfishness overcome any good feelings for most people, the problem is with Education, we don't do it from birth because we are already doing the hard yards trying to stay alive. We strive for wealth and the children follow suit.

Lovely, uplifting performance. I particularly liked that there was footage of the crowd after the performance - all that joy and happiness on people's faces as they left with a glow in their hearts.

beautiful sounds like nature as it gradually draws you in with each performer wandering in and taking part - sound like when becoming aware of nature after listening to too many people - thank you

Porto, S Bento Station is the most beautiful Station in the world! The tiles are to die for! This place used to be a palace, later turned to be a train station, how hilarious.
