Sorry, I did not mean to sound calloused regarding the patient’s discomfort. I have worked in clinical microbiology for 40 years. It’s always exciting to see an organism in situ rather than on an agar plate. Seeing this is a reminder of why I do what I do. It is for the patient. Thanks for sharing this video.

What causes the fungus?

Fungus and bacteria live in the canal and when the pH and moisture levels get out of balance then one or the other can take over and create otitis externa, for fungus its called otomycosis.
