Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

I never think you talk too much! Sometimes you speak more quickly than my brain can decipher, but it is precisely your commentary ( and Taylor’s) that draws me back episode after episode. Out of all of you audiologists I love listening to you the most, the excitement of your voice, the explanation of what is going on and the name of the equipment helps a lot. I think why people say you talk too much as like me when we get excited about something, we tend to talk faster, louder with no gaps and add an accent and we are concentrating on the voice more than the picture causing us to lose our concentration. I find same issue with millennials because they grew up on computers they talk quicker and I have to ask them to slow their speech. Good analogy is when you eat too fast, you dont concentrate on the flavour. I am the same and we need to take a breath. It was an unbelievable amount of wax/skin you removed, the patients world just opened up, what a relief. Fantastic video.
