Can one ever be too prepared for travel? In this episode, Rhett recounts his time in Florida with his family, scuba diving in shipwrecks, wild waves, seeing sharks, and even kayaking with crocodiles -- but not before he describes his uncharacteristically large list of toiletries.

true but i do think the enforcement of it is used to further over policing, especially for people of color. Traffic stops like that can quickly become deadly and they are often done to meet quotas. I honestly feel like it would probably be better to make cars undrivable without buckling the seat belt instead of trying to use the police to enforce it.

Fun hammerhead shark facts! The eyes being so far apart give them a great field of view to hunt and scan areas quicker. They also use the front of the head to pin stingrays to the ocean floor. They also have a whole bunch of sensors across the front, used to pick up on the electrical signals live prey give off. They are evolutionarily designed to be very good at hunting stingrays. They also generally birth anywhere from 6 to 50 live young.

I live in Miami and I go to the keys all the time. Fred the tree is really popular because that bridge was actually blown up in an old terminator movie. The locals planted the tree and there’s actually a smaller tree right next to it! It’s really cool because a tree shouldn’t be able to grow on the dilapidated bridge but it brings memories every time I go there. It’s more like a local mascot than an attraction. I also highly recommend seeing Robert the doll museum next time you go to key west or the butterfly museum.

I was born & raised in Hawaii (70s - 90s). I remember growing up & collecting seaweed as a kid & throughout the years we were unable to do so due to climate change or over harvesting conditions. My parents just accepted that this is what happens… I want to honor the immigrants that came before us that allowed us to have a life in the US but, I am sad that they were not able to stand up to support the life that was here before we stepped we were here.

I was listening to this while cooking so I definitely might be mistaken about what they were talking about but a shark has (electric) sensors in it's nose (not the same as a human nose but a similar function) area which allow it to know when food is right below it's nose area. Because of the hammerhead's wide nose(?) area it has more receptors in a wider area. Sorry if this isn't true, I am a linguist not a marine biologist. I just saw a youtube short explaining this literally yesterday.

A very important point Rhett touch upon is the incessant disinformation campaign against Americans. The curse of being in the most geopolitically significant country in the world is that every enemy country wants to see America’s downfall. Americans are constantly bombarded by bad faith foreign agents (Russia, Saudi, China etc) sowing distrust and division. We as a society are also the most diverse people so that also makes it even more easy for the adversaries to divide us My hope is that with time, we become more immune to disinformation via evolution of thought because we have been targeted so much and come together instead of starting a civil war among us.. sigh but it's always gonna be an uphill battle for us. PS : “Leave The World Behind” is a movie that explores this.
