I'd rather watch a show about a poor family during the depression than all those sex shows of today! It's hard to believe Earl Hamner is that old & so frail today...time has passed so quickly!

That is the way the time is. We need to cheerish each day. Just we grow older we need to let it last as long as. Possible because you never know when it will be gone.

We don 't know these things when we are kids , but as time goes on, things changes. We need to hold on what we have.

I absolutely adore this man! He was one of the greatest storytellers ever! Thank god for the Waltons. It remains one of the greatest family shows to this day.

Earl felt like family to us, even though we really only heard his voice on The Waltons. The sound of his voice and the way he spoke carried us away to another time each week. No other show has ever brought so much comfort and joy to me, and it all started and ended with Earl!

Her daughter hand-made the award! This is what I mean when I say we need to get back to the NATURAL! Get back to our roots! God bless Will and Earl. They gave us so much!

from David Steging: I loved Spencers Mountain, the Christmas Story and the Waltons. Loved the scenes of the Waltons reminded me of my grandparents in Beckville Texas The old country church reminds me of Mt Zion Church in Beckville Texas. Show about faith , family and hard work - could use that today in America.

Loved Will Geer and "Grandpa walton". I especially loved the mind and person of Earl Hamner. I am just a woman living in a small town who was greatly influenced by The Waltons. All I ever wanted to be was like Olivia Walton. I did my best. we had a farm and 7 children (5 adopted) and tried to live by the values expressed in The Waltons. I wrote to Mr. Hamner and told him of this and we began an email correspondence. Jut a lovely human being. An original and he will be missed. I still watch The Waltons.

I love the Waltons-- watched every episode through tears of empathy and joy-- and love Earl Hamner, have read his books, listened to his commentaries and interviews, love all of his work. They-- Will Geer, all the actors, writers and crews involved-- made the finest TV show there ever was. Would love to see a play at Will's theater. Treasures all. Thank you--

I don’t know who else thinks this but I think Richard Thomas did an excellent job at the time Earl Hamner a.k.a. John boy Walton in the Waltons I just wanted to say that the rest of the cast was phenomenal too but after looking at these interviews of Earl Richard did an exceptional job.

As someone who has diabetes, I just know that Ellen Corby's Grandma is essential to my health! So I guess I'd better watch more of The Waltons, especially episodes with "The Old Woman". If I don't, she may just take the broom to me!

Pardon me for thinking out loud, but one wonders how many people would flip their opinion of Will Geer if they knew that he was A) homosexual, and B) a Progressive. Furthermore, Geer was a member of the communist party. I'm pretty sure that half of the people who profess to "love him" would turn their backs on him if they knew. Doesn't change the way I regard Mr. Geer, though. I hold him in the highest regard. I think the real will Geer was much like the man we saw in the series.
