I feel him on appreciating albums through repetition. Pretty much exactly how I got into Some Rap Songs. It was a super jarring and unexpected album on the first listen but after a few plays it made way more sense
@sibusiso284111 ай бұрын
Yeah but that's coz the album already had something that made you keep coming back even if it you weren't that cognisant of it at the time. If it gets to a point where you going out your way to listen to it all, then that could be a failure on the artist's side.

One of the smallest, yet most impactful blessings in my life was that my first car was an '06 Corolla that didn't have AUX capabilities and I didn't have the money to get a new radio. I was stuck with a 6 disc changer. It helped me appreciate listening to an album all the way through, and now that's just HOW i listen to music. I have playlists for when I am studying/working and need stuff on in the background or when I need some music for a party but when i actively listen to music I am mostly listening to albums.
@culturehit555811 ай бұрын
That was such a good question when she asked Earl about how he puts references in his music and how people can seek out these almost recommendations. He does that a lot, and it's one of the many reasons why his music is so interesting and timeless. Love it , great job Abby

the John C Reilly movie mentioned is called Walk Hard and it is an EXCELLENT parody of the musical biopic cinematic universe that was so prevalent in the 2000's... Ray, Walk the Line, etc it singlehandedly destroyed the formulaic musical biopic genre much like how Austin Powers destroyed the sexy James Bond spy genre

100% agree with his thoughts on playlists. Nothing wrong with making them, but I think something is lost if that's your primary way of exploring an artist. Sometimes you grow to like certain songs because of the album context.
