I'm not confident with Barbie getting in acting categories but it would be great if they give nods for comedic performances this year. But for sure Barbie will be nominated for tech categories like Prod design, costume design, hair and makeup, maybe score and original song. Many reasons to account for the backlash to Back to Black that you didn't mention. The film is basically a pet project of Amy Winehouse's awful father, so it's gonna be whitewashed in the vein of poorly received Bohemian Rhapsody and IWanna Dance with Somebody. Biopic fatigue. Probably too soon for this, but the documentary Amy was exceptional and won the Oscar. Marisa Abela is stunning on Industry, but she isn't a "name" actress and looks nothing like the subject. Many consider Sam Taylor-Johnson to be a hack director. So the early negative reception from Winehouse stans is understandable.

For that reason, I wouldn’t underestimate the following: - Amy Adam’s in Nightbitch - Any if the actors/Emma Stone for Poor Things - Barry Keoghan I’d add Jonathan Majors to that list but I don’t see him getting nominated in light of sending his girlfriend to the hospital. It’s a shame. I also wouldn’t underestimate Lakeith Stanfield because he’s been nominated before and he does more than just play the “cool guy”. Colman Domingo I would put at number 1 because he’s not just in Ruston, he’s playing Mister in The Color Purple. The man is getting nominated one way or another in my opinion. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m 100% here for the Efronaissance. He doesn’t even have to get nominated (he probably won’t). If he can win some critics awards and get buzz, that would make me so happy! He’s been wanting to be seen as a more serious actor for a while and I want to see that finally happen for him. This could change the trajectory of his career, if everything goes well with The Iron Claw.

Efron and Stan should be way higher in these predictions.
@claudettewright365 Жыл бұрын
Efron yes. Stan, no. And I say that mostly because the film allegedly has a message, for at least part of it, that critiques able-bodied actors using makeup to portray real-life disabled people. If you don’t know why, they based Stan’s character on Adam Pearson (physically) who’s also an actor and also in the movie. Stan is wearing makeup to look exactly like the irl Pearson, and Pearson is playing an actor portraying Stan’s character on stage in the film. Allegedly, this is meant to turn the whole able-bodied actor portraying irl disabled person trend on its head by having the irl disabled person play the actor in the world of the film. So, it wouldn’t seem right for the Academy to nominate Stan (in makeup to look like Pearson) with that message attached to it. Especially, given that Pearson has been extremely vocal about the importance of casting disabled actors as disabled characters. If nothing else comes out of that movie, I hope that Adam Pearson is able to boost his career and get more roles.
