Worked with Doddy loads of times...he is still performing and still a very funny man.I think The Beatles would of met him on the liverpool club circut back in the early 60s.

In the full interview they talk about "going home for Christmas", so definitely shot in late 1963, as haircuts were longer by late 1964. Also the recent reference to the Jewel joke from the recent royal engagement.

I love that Beatles videos always have women(and men) going crazy over these guys in the comments because unlike so many "musicians" today, these guys are both talented and incredibly attractive! The Beatles kick ass. Period.

It was George, your exactly right, on further review I see him say it and Joh looks at him very pleased that he is so quick. They loved these anything goes conversations. Tossing words out. Many people don,t do that anymore. I wonder why. Too many bloody monolouges these days. As if it's rude to interject and they just don't hear you anymore.

That was Johns quick wit, basically just what we know as flow of conciousness, being awake and tying things together, we've all done it. Some more than others. If your inhibited you don't do it much, you'll be worried about the reaction. "We need an earthy name for me". John: "Grass", and then immediately after, "Sod" Both very earthy names eh? But "Sod" you see has the double meaning he always looked for. Appropriate.

George is the person who says "Sod", not John. Paul repeats basically what Doddy said in the 1st place, John says "Grass" and then George chips in with "Sod". This video is a bit grainy so it isn't that clear, but there's a video with the entire interview. Search and it's at 7.50: "The Beatles Interview with Ken Dodd (Scene at 6.30) [HiQ]"

Thats right. Today if this was taking place I'm sure it would be rehearsed thoroughly, which makes it all less natural. You can tell this WASN'T rehearsed because Paul and John would not have said their lines as they were made reduntant by George's "Sod". Also Doddy and the interviewer put their foot in it by asking Paul and John if they still went home to their Mams; their mother's were deceased. A lot of the remarks they came out with in A Haed Days Night, in particualar John's, were ad libs.

@beatlesfan07480 You are the most dimmest person I have seen on here. John Lennon died on December 8, 1980. They said Paul McCartney died November 22, 1966, it was a hoax(I think I spelled it wrong).. Maybe you should look things up before commenting about them.. John Lennon was 40 when he was shot. Paul McCartney is still alive. Yoko is a nice person. George died in November of 2001. Ringo is still alive and kicking. Shut up with all your lies, and google them. Thank you. Chow!
