I'm confused. There's not a retaining clip or anything for the axle inside the differential? I haven't seen calipers that have the parking brake builtin before. It looks MUCH better than the stupid "tiny drum in the middle" style which absolutely never works.

No, its doesn't have a retainer in the diff. I've worked on some of those before in my other cars. I guess the nice thing is you don't to pull the diff cover to remove the axle. The downside is your tire might come off when your going down the road. The bearing retainer normally keeps them bearing in place. I hear its pretty common when the bearings fail for them to walk out. That bearing lasted 15 years daily driven and many offroading trips. The E-brake setup is pretty cool but is a pain to dial in and adjust. Have you ever down any fuel injection stuff? Seems like something you would be into.

@@fintechrepairshop Nah, I am more just into repair when it comes to vehicles. Never modded anything really other than interior/hvac stuff. I am a boring, drive the speed limit from point A to point B person. My biggest mods are things like ripping out cellular modules and adding extra condenser fans.

Fuel injection is pretty cool, 10+ years ago I did some software development on an open source fuel injection project called megasquirt. You can run your car on a Atmel 8bit processor. This was my first experience with these types of processors, way before 3D printers were a thing. Did adding the extra condenser fans improve your low speed cooling?

@@fintechrepairshop Cool, I've heard of that. Is that actually allowed in CA?! Here on the east coast, even if a vehicle is older than 25 years old, the required safety inspection includes a "visual verification of emissions systems", ie. you are not allowed to modify anything. In theory. (Obviously in practice it depends on the inspector.) The only way to not do it is to plate a car with antique plates, and then you are only allowed to drive it on weekends. Condenser fans do help, but we found that you need a ton of power for them to work. Like 15-20A, 1500+ CFM rating. And they are loud. Smaller ones do nothing.
