I really enjoy watching your KZbin channel and have learned a lot from you two. I was an electronic technician/electrician for many years so I did a lot of wiring. One of the most important things about is making good connections and especially good ground connections is to use conductive grease. We always sanded down to bare metal and applied conductive grease to the surfaces before we made the connections. When we made a connection with aluminum we sanded the surface, applied conductive grease and then wire brushed the aluminum before we made the connection because when you sand aluminum it oxidizes immediately. You will probably have to go to an electrical supply to buy conductive grease. Most auto parts stores will sell you a tube of Dielectric grease and Dielectric means "non-conductive" and it's great for things like spark plug boots or sealing electric connectors. I guarantee that somebody is going to reply "They've been using Delectric grease all their lives for electrical connections and never had a problem." If I had been caught with a tube of Dielectric grease on the job I would have fired on the spot.

The orange and red wires look the same in the dark. (And under street lighting.)Maybe a female and a male connector, so you cannot get it wrong. Great job, Thanks Morph x

Hey Emily, since you're using those great crimpers and heat shrink, you can actually clean things up a bit, and buy just the bulk connectors without the plastic sleeves on them... in addition, you can get the heat shrink in colors for denoting the wires function in system. They'll be smaller and cleaner at each termination without the pvc , and if you're in a hostile environment like a race engine or boat; crimping just the terminal is best followed with some solder before heat shrinking to finish. The solder makes it corrosion resistant and durable while improving conductivity.

The Catholic Church in my small town has bells playing daily at noon...but come to think of it I don't think I've heard them in a while... either that or I'm just really used to it and don't notice anymore 🤔. When I was a kid the air raid siren used to go off every night at 9 o'clock...we had a curfew in those days... doesn't go off every day anymore but you hear it every now and again... just testing it I guess it doubles as a warning system also ( we are in a flood prone area).

Better when Holley EFI is installed on a much newer vehicle and the installer doesn't need to deal with a distributor and a single coil, and lets the system "do its thang". Loss of the spark knock sensor puts the installer on the low side of performance or risk potential engine destroying detonation by pushing spark advance too high. For Emily and Aaron it won't affect then performance wise, ......

In my seaside town growing up we had a local firehouse/paramedics station left over from WWII and it had an air-raid siren mounted on the roof. Every Sunday morning from March until September it would wake up the entire town on Sunday morning at 6:00 AM. I left there decades ago but I did a google maps street view search of my old town one day and it looks like they tore that old brick building down and put up a stupid Hookah/Head Shop.

@mr.the-edmeister27504 жыл бұрын
"real" small block? (350 should be assumed as "real" SB) or a more modern LS which is considered a "small block" by some? For real SBC - are #5 and #7 cylinder plug wires 'neatly' bundled parallel to each other? 1.8.4.3.6 -5 - 7 .2 - firing order -- 5 & 7 fire one after another and should cross over each other to stop induction due to parallel plug wires and thus #7 firing to soon, and resulting in pre-ignition while the #7 piston is still coming up on it's own compression stroke. Ford small blocks were prone to do the same thing back in the '60's when someone "tidied up" the spark plugs wired to run parallel in the factory plug wire holders on the valve cover; can't recite the cyl #'s anymore, because Ford 1-4 cyl #s ran up pass side and then the 5-8 #s on the drivers side; where GM had even number cyls on the pass side and the odd numbers on the left side.

The "Tech Guy" was incorrect. You can use that magnetic pickup distributor to control timing with the MSD ignition box. You just have to replace the rotor cap with Holley P/N 84211 and here are the instructions online here: documents.holley.com/199r11031r.pdf and there is a video on how to install the distributor here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXO2mqybnJmLebc
@cpzahler3 жыл бұрын
You have a Ford so it would be P/N 8433 and not P/N 84211 because that is for a GM vehicle. If your not using the CD box you would wire in their coil driver to the square style coil. It's all explained on that KZbin video.

Tip for labeling wires. I have found that you can write on shrink tube with a Sharpie (I've never tried it in pen but it may work) BEFORE you place it over the wires and when you heat it the writing will shrink along with it. The protective loom is great. In watching you try to work the wires in by hand I wanted to let you know about these inexpensive tools that make it much easier. smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DTKNZU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 IF you run into RFI ,running your sensor wires through this braided copper loom will help. I did it as I installed the wiring. smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M8L2SBS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ball point ink is no good, takes to long to dry is it ever does dry. Gel ink does work better, but easily smears. Would work as well for cars.

I would not want a computer timing my small block Ford engine. Total timing should be a few degrees past 40. 43 is about perfect. Initial timing is almost irrelevant as long as it starts OK. The lightest flyweights in the distributor are the best, usually. I would love to have Aaron's Z car but only with its original 6 cylinder engine.
