This is the third and final part of the series of videos about early childhood educator interview questions and answers
👧My name is Kate and I am an early childhood trainer; university teacher and qualified early childhood teacher.
I am very passionate about Early Years from 0-8. I have a background in Early Childhood (Bachelor's and Master of Education), VET and Tertiary education (both face-to-face classroom teaching and online learning).
I have worked in the early childhood profession for over 15 years in various positions: as a nanny, playgroup coordinator, and storyteller at the local library, educator, kindergarten teacher, educational leader and
🎓I have Certificate 3, a Diploma, Bachelor's and Master's of Early Childhood Education, and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
💕I work as a relief ECT in different preschools and long daycare centres to keep current.
🎹I love playing the piano and ukulele; singing with children and pre-service teachers; write poetry and silly songs.
📚I am also a book nerd and read everything related to early childhood education and care.

⬇️ How can I help you? ⬇️
** As an early childhood teacher and teacher's educator, I love to share my passion for early learning through stories; puppet shows, action songs, circle games, children's songs, and thoughts about helping young children to learn. You will find loads of free resources, ideas, tips and digital products to improve your pedagogy.
** With a strong focus on storytelling, teaching with puppets, music and play, I will demonstrate the ways to create an engaging program for children, with a particular emphasis on circle time (group time, meeting time or yarning circle). I am committed to supporting the community for early childhood pre-service educators (Certificate 3 in ECEC, diploma in ECEC and a Bachelor of ECEC and working professionals. I vision STORYKATE as a space to share ideas, examples of good practice; reflections and fun!

I'm glad I found your channel so helpful and insightful. I am looking for ECT casual work and maybe fulltime once I have more experience. I find writing is so challenging and I hate using excuse of English is my second language and UNI is not a place to prepare you for workforce. What is your best advice? I feel like it would be the only stressful thing for me.

Dear Hsa, I think the best way to get the casual work is to sign up with the agency. For example, I work for Randstad education. I think your English is fantastic! It will only become better with practice. What helped me is listening to podcasts, watching videos and talking (using the new expressions in the context of work).

Best of luck with your job interview! I recommend listening to the podcasts about early childhood education, e.g. Early Childhood Show and Early Childhood Nerd, they help to learn the key language , expressions and the terminology. I also recommend to read EYLF and highlight the key words. In terms of key expressions for ECE I am trying to create a manual and will share it on my website!

Hello, I have a question… In 2017 I took a cert III but I wasn’t able to do any work due to some health issues. I am doing better now and would like to work casually. If I was to join an agency, what questions am I to expect during interviews? English is my second language so your help would be appreciated. Thanks
@Storykate

Hi Sobia, It would be very similar questions, but the list would be shorter. In agencies, you typically are given a scenario which requires you to consider a child with challenging behaviour or they may ask you what would you do to extend child's play and learning. Good luck with the agency interview!

How can we go for Admin rolls in childcare? Which qualification we need? Can we start from educator and after some experience we can move in admin rolls in childcare?
@Storykate
@Storykate Жыл бұрын
Hi Kawaljeet, you can apply for admin roles without direct experience with children. You need to know some software though like Quickkids and have admin experience. To become a director though, educator needs to work for quite a few years in early childhood education and care.
