As a kid, if I'd worked hard at school and received good grades, I could hire out a John Wilson video on a Saturday evening. And then go fishing with mates on Sunday. Absolute bliss! Thank you, John.

Been over a year since I have been able to watch John Wilson as my father passed away and we used to watch these together. Two men who have been such a great part of my life, both now at rest. I miss you both and dad thanks for taking me fishing with you and enjoying the countryside and wildlife as well as the fishing, just as John appreciated it. Wish you were still here but I can now watch theses again with good memories, not just the loss of you both. Will always appreciate everything in life. Thanks and god bless

45 years ago I arrived in Norwich and stumbled upon his small tackle shop. He was essentially unknown to the general public at that time. I walked in and he was reading at the counter. I introduced myself and asked for some advice as to where to fish and so on. He never looked up, but pointed to a section of the counter and simply said "buy my book". 'Miserable sod' I thought to myself, but I did, it was invaluable, and although withing a few years i moved away, I still have it.

Back in the 80's I used to hear the name 'Dick Walker' a lot. Never really meant a lot to me... but John Wilson... that was a different matter. I remember the press said JW captiviated the country with his infectious enthusiasm. Even my non-angling colleagues at that time used to watch the programme. He probably deserved an MBE for his contribution to angling at that time. Nobody has come close to capturing the enthusiasm for fishing and wildlife. I wished his nephew would be able to continue in John's footsteps but unfortunately Martin doesn't have the same charisma. Consequently, John is the legend that lives on. If you know, you know....

John used to say "That's a super fish, let's put it in the net!". My fishing partner and I used to fish the Thames in Windsor after work in the late 80s (when this aired) and every time we caught a Chub, Barbel or good Roach, we'd say the same thing. LOL. Good times...

Great footage, the location is the river Tiffey at Kimberly hall near Wymondham in Norfolk. I've fished the river for years and the fish in the river always have black spot, but seem healthy enough.

Can you imagine Graeme from TA Fishing doing this? Stomping about plonking his chair down, no landing net, clowning around, talking incessantly to the camera while playing a fish. This is how to fish properly Graeme, watch and learn!

If youre going to target anyone to try and get thumbsups , you asshole, Graeme Pullen is a very bad choice, he has done a lot for people getting into fishing in recent years, just as this guy did in his time, pre internet. like many people new to fishing in the last few years, I have found Graeme and Mike Pullen on youtube have been a fantastic source of knowledge and inspiration to improve, and learn, to young and new fishermen. get a grip you fucking tosser !!

@@wonkylommiter6364 Haha, someone got triggered on poor old Graeme's behalf didn't they? Calm down sunshine! I don't give a fuck about likes and that's not why I made that comment. It was because I've seen several TA Fishing videos where Graeme behaves very irresponsibly and is setting a bad example to youngsters and novices alike. Now wind your neck in and fuck off! Lovely video from a man who seems to have earned much respect. Can someone help me out here ? Why did he say that if you make vibrations approaching the edge that the days fish are gone when he can dip the net multiple times in the stream to net a splashing fish and everything is still ok ?
@johnathanryan2117
@johnathanryan2117 2 жыл бұрын
When he's catching them, he is constantly feeding the swim, or keeping bait going into the stream. This keeps the fish interested and he will attempt to remove fish quickly with minimum disturbance. Hes saying that if he disturbs the swim before hes even fishing hes got no chance all day.
