Nice video, thanks for sharing it. The driver on the platform waiting to relieve the 'liner was me, my Heavyhall job that morning was cancelled so I was 'nicked' by Intermodal to cover one of their Crewe diagrams, unfortunately I was not told that 4M95 had a 70 on it and since I've not driven one for well over a year I couldn't take it forward (I'm still waiting for a refresher on them!). After a few phone calls were made the Eastleigh guy I relieved worked his booked job back south and a Lawley Street man came out to work 4M95 forward to Crewe. Rules are rules, and if I'd taken it forward myself and had any kind of incident I'd be looking forward to receiving a P45 in the post!

Always enjoy seeing the beds coming through Nuneaton. My favourite time there is early evening at this time of the year when there is a hint of fog in the air. Happy memories of A/C electrics hurtling through, while a class 31 working Birmingham to Norwich services would be ticking over waiting time, with a 47 or a peak in the sidings.

The fiasco with 70 002 reminds me of something I once saw at Brighton. There used to be a service from Basingstoke to Brighton via the coast line, operated by either a 159 or sometimes a pair of 159s. Driver relieved part way, took it to Brighton then changed ends. On one occasion when the driver did that it had a 170 on the back and he didn't sign them......😂

@@antman09ful1 we have had such a lot of new drivers in the last couple of years, and the priority is getting them trained up and out there. The basic loco is the 66 so after they pass out they do conversions on the 90s and 70s but while they are waiting they are out driving. I can imagine that from time to time a train will arrive somewhere and this will happen. What a poor performance from these drivers and signallers. It's time all trains are driverless. The technology is there (as has been in decades on the DLR)! Stop striking and let us get to our hospital appointment ffs! Having said that, I love freight trains, but please scrap the drivers to make the railways safer, more affordable and computers will not go on strike and fuck ppl up who are struggling to make ends meet and can't get to work. You do an awesome job ppl, but it's just not good enough!

Making railways more affordable - automation and full electrification would cost millions and take years and where exactly in the world is a fully automated mixed traffic high speed mainline railway? How long does your PC last at home before it needs binning and replacing? Even the Swiss still have drivers. Metros are one thing, heavy rail is a different thing altogether. Unless the UK government change the way railways are funded and run nothing will change. Antman, I Enjoyed the video, thanks for filming it
