The z'gok was my first RG and I loved it, the joints get pretty loose when you play with them unfortunately. It's not a hand grenade and it's not super floppy but it's not great. And because of the pre-molded joints in the earlier RGs it's not the easiest to tighten it. But it's a fun build and you can pose it somewhat. It's a bit like trying to move a stretch Armstrong though lol.

@@TokyoFilthy yes the joints can hold up but you can notice a-little bit loose from the arms because of The armor separation and the claw is to big maybe because i played to much from the articulations... 😂 Try to watch RG Z’gok review... all i can say about the kit is the body is solid and heavy... rate 9/10... 🦀

I have the RG Freedom but my god how the parts are so fragile. I have broken some parts and I decided to put it in the box until I can handle fragile kits even more carefully.

the wings arent too bad if u pinch the two halves together when posing. the real crap here are the waist, hips and shoulder joints, and knees too to an extent... not sure what made them think a soft plastic rubbing around another soft plastic would hold their weight

i owned it a while ago, nothing problem at all except for the loose shoulder joint so i used hot glue to thicken the ball joint and BAM! a perfect solid kit i got there. u just unlucky.

Just buy the MG, it's cheap and it's a fantastic kit if you put some time on it. I prefer it over the rg, better proportions imho

RG Strike Freedom was my first model kit ever. I was just getting into Gundam 5 years ago and when I saw this, I wanted it cause it looked really awesome. In one day I built the entire thing...with no knowledge of building models. It looked terrible, but I loved it. I saw tutorials on how to properly build a kit, went back, disassembled it, cleaned it up, then put it all back together. It still looks amazing after 5 years, but man that ERG... This kit is probably why I love RG's so much and why it's my main go to. I absolutely love the RG line.

The HGCE strike freedom was my first of many kits, so this suit has always held a special place in my heart. If I had the money I would buy this one in a heartbeat, even if it does start to get loose over time.

Most reviewers forget about this. I hv the clear color version, and the bigger navy flaps are so tight I couldnt open them without breaking something. Did you have the same problem?

Honestly this is probably my favorite of the early Real Grades. Had to paint the gold that isn’t painted but once you do it’s absolutely gorgeous.

I ended up repainting the gold parts whilst still on the runners, using automotive plastic primer and some different golds for the various parts. Doing this added the reinforcement needed for the joints. However I did have to file back the paint for the sliding mechanisms in the waist mount beam rifles. I didn’t touch the chrome yellow though. That looked awesome as it was.

Thanks to this review right here I hopefully took some preparatory steps while building this to forestall the early RG syndrome. I painted the gold ABS with a gold Gundam marker and the improvement was noticeable immediately in the build of the inner frame. Hopefully that and the matte clear base coat will keep the joints a bit tighter longer but the ankles are definitely too weak to support that backpack. Because of this, I also made sure I had a display stand for it. But on display in the air it looks incredible, particularly when the wings and dragoons are fully expanded. Mecha only opened the wings themselves without popping them open to reveal the gold inner frame. Railguns swivel behind the legs, as well. All-in-all a very detailed kit for such a compact size. I particularly like that with the wings fully expanded it is star of the show but closed and folded back it is [mostly] nondescript. Lots of hands and gimmicks and a bit cheaper than the MGEX grail.

How would one go about tightening the inner frame on one of these? Like, out of the box, could you just hit the moving bits with some floor polish and be okay?

is there a way to tighten the joints for early RG frames? My RG 00 Raiser suffers the same dilemma especially on it's bicep swivel joint it can't hold the GN sword 3 that well.

I remember that one of the earliest things i did once i started collecting Gunpla was to buy all the Real Grades after getting the Z'Gok as my 2nd ever kit. I kept that up until 2018 when i got the Unicorn, Banshee Norn, Johnny Ridden Zaku R-2 & Tallgeese. Haven't bought an RG since cos they're expensive (Especially since they're making larger ones now) and i'd rather focus on my HGUC collection.

Built it, and lemme tell you something m8, you gotta be careful after you finished building it. Those two railguns on his waist? It’s so weak and brittle. One wrong move, and it will fall off and you would have to glue it there permanently. It’s also super back heavy and an absolute pain to pose in a ground position, god why didn’t they include a stand in the kit. So yeah, just be prepared.

I bought the clear color version of this from the Gunpla Expo event earlier this year (it looked so silly that I just had to do it) and a couple of the joints have this weird resistance to them. The shoulder rotation--which I notice Mecha didn't bother with, gee I wonder why--is either too stiff or too loose to really work...which I suppose is easy to blame on the ERS inner frame. But then there's the neck. The kit absolutely refuses to look straight ahead. Every time I try to rotate the head, it feels like there's some friction or it's getting caught on something, and if I move the head so it's facing forward it immediately turns slightly to the right all by itself, which is really annoying when trying to get it into a forward shooting pose like the full burst. I've reseated the head a couple times trying to make sure that I have it on right, and sometimes putting the head on facing forward works, but it eventually ends up turning again. There's no visible nub remaining there getting in the way or anything, so I'm not sure if the part was molded wrong or what.

I honestly liked this kit. Its detailing was incredible. The weakness is 1) shoulder is easilt popped off (i thicken the joint with marker), 2) fragile waist (easily changed in orientation when slightly finger pushed), 3) heavy backpack. And also lamee gold. I painted it with Gundam Marker Gold GM05. I accidentally broke the joint between left foot and heel. And also, the beam shield is horrible compared to HGCE infinite justice (but considering its age, i think it's okay). A small difference compared to its anime-rendered, its beam cannon mounted on its abdomen, is slightly upward to the chest, which in anime, it's on lower near abdomen

You can remove all ugly marks and whiten plastic without painting. Just using sand paper 400 and step up to - 600 - 1,000 - 1,200 grit. I got this kit and this sanding technic help a lot and works well even on the dark color parts too.

What about your real grade gundam mk 2??? Took a look at one that I helped my friend build a few years back not using the b parts and going through several moves with little to no touch ups or clean ups on it and to my surprise it was still as solid as when it was first built, articulation was solid too, and it had no problem standing whatsoever not even when widening the stance for the legs. It surprisingly held up far better than the rg astray red frame which was just a mess really quick.

This is a very detailed kit with a lot of panel lining and a ton of stickers. Take your time with this model and get every detail right, and you will be happy with the results.
