I am working on a 15 year plan to be semi-retire by 55. This is great motivation to reduce the time to 10 years..

Started late, but I'm on track to be work optional by 48 and retired by 50.

Excellent content. Between 2018 and 2021, I experienced 2 sabbaticals. Then, in November 2024, I decided to proceed with early age retirement (63) for SSI benefits. I reviewed my financial portfolio and real estate investments and decided that I was not going to wait until66-full retirement age for me. I am preparing to place a property on the market. Then proceed to work on residency visas for Panama and Mexico. Hopefully by late spring/ early summer, I will be on the road, with my 11 pound dog, traveling the world. 🐕

I didn’t think so until I started watching you and Stephanie and learning about retiring abroad. And I never did the math, because the prospect of retiring in the US was daunting.

53 and just did it on the 20th. Decided to say sabbatical instead. The word retirement was causing anxiety and too many questions. Your journey over the last 3 years has been very very helpful. Thank you.

Congratulations,🎉 Welcome to the Sabbatical Club. I’m with you… that word never fit my personality or lifestyle.

It’s like one of the first things that is different now that I’m in it versus “before.” Thank you for the welcome. Here is something else that I’d like to share: I had run my numbers before and knew everything would be okay but I 💯 failed to think about what a withdrawal strategy would look like on a day to day basis. I should have it better understood before my “sabbatical” but I just couldn’t wait any longer.

Many moons ago when I was in undergrad, I was deciding if I wanted to go to law school so I interned at a small maritime defense firm in New Orleans. All I’m gonna say is, I IMMEDIATELY knew law was not for me.

Roshida, you are correct, I walked away from employment but still had to fight the thought of the what if, possible homessness, etc. I had to do a deep dive and then tell myself if it happens, I will adjust and use my skills and abilities to bring in money.

Hi. Catching on replay. I retired early. 2019 was the year that I hung it up. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Roshida, your life experiences really provide a clear reminder of why we should put our hard earned money to work for us, not others. Not yo kids, grandkids, etc. Immo share this video with my husband. We are 50s , comfortable , I stopped working at 50. He still struggles to spend but is loosening up as his closest friends are retired and traveling the world. He has a cush cush mostly remote job but finally, his plan is to retire this year. Thanks again for great content.

I know Soo Many that don't think they have ENOUGH! Cost of living is less abroad, but I don't think they get that.

Ideally, I'd baristaFIRE by 40 and fully retire by 50. I feel better now than I did two years ago financially. But I still need to evaluate where I'd go because I don't want to stay in the States.

I'd have to disagree with you on the comment about men being mediocre. You may have to communicate some things to your man because every woman is different, but if you've picked the right guy and you're kind when you speak to him, he'll will do just about anything to make sure you have a big smile every morning.
