Congratulations! Just had my third, our surprised baby boy 27 days ago. His two sisters can't get enough of him. They are 5 and 2. The 2 year old is still adjusting to not being the baby anymore but everyone seems to be settling in to their roles and place.

+1 on the mastitis / “clogs” video. i was in the thick of breastfeeding with frequent flare ups at that time. i was being instructed by my health care providers to do all the things that turned out to be making it worse. that video and the evidence provided made a significant difference in my health and wellbeing, as well as the overall success of my breastfeeding journey. thank you, sarah.

I also got a gender blood test at my doctor's office, but I got the results from the Quest Diagnostics dashboard well before my doctor called with the results. So nice to know ahead of time!

Congratulations, too bad in Europe (not sure all countries, but at least in The Netherlands, NIPT test not allowed to show gender results) however we do received NIPT test as free standard test for genetic abnormalities 😊

That’s really interesting they don’t show sex chromosome data. There are some situations where there can be an extra sex chromosome or just 1 instead of 2 - I wonder if they would give you those results if abnormal.

In Germany you can get the baby's gender from the NIPT, just it's not covered by insurance, you will need to pay like 19 Euros for that if I remember it correctly 😊

(Or I could be wrong, need to asked my midwife) I think the reason why they didn't show the gender of the baby is to prevent baby gender preferred. Because in NL we have elective abortion option. Is in Germany have that as well?

congratulations! :) i have a naive question about the test you took. how long does the fetal dna (in this case your first son’s dna, or his y chromosome specifically) stay in the maternal blood? i found somewhat conflicting information online but it seems like it could be decades. does the test differentiate between the y chromosomes in the maternal blood from subsequent pregnancies?

My 13 month old was an around the clock guy until recently. I’m first trimester and my supply has taken a nose dive. Never once had supply issues until pregnancy. I’ve read it’s normal for it to decrease for the first few months and then disappear into just colostrum by about the middle of pregnancy. So weaning is happening kind of naturally I guess

Congratulations! I watched you all through my 1st pregnancy. You were a real comfort to me. I gave birth to my 1st August 11 2024. I just found out I’m 6 weeks pregnant with my 2nd. That’s so fun. I had 4 under 4; a girl, a boy then twin boys. I always found out the gender at birth. My kids are still very close as adults so think about that when times are challenging.

My husband just recently got on board to try for our 3rd!! Our youngest turned 8 months old. I’m freaking out but I just turned 34 so I don’t think I can’t wait for a few years just to get tired all over again in my upper 30s. Are y’all happy with the age gap??

Congratulations! 🎉 I have not had a child yet, but would like to in the future - this is under current discussions between my partner and I. I decided I would just leave it til the birth. I'd need the extra motivation to get through the birth I reckon if I ever get there. My partner said he'd happily leave me to the decision making on that because to him that's classified as part of my bodily choices, and nothing to do with him. So that's what we'd do! I don’t understand when people wait until birth! Why! Don’t they rather start prepping things like the nursery or clothing or names? Everything last minute cannot help with newborn life at home. Congratulations on girl, boy, boy! That’s great!

I think it's common to decorate with gender neutral colours and pick a name for a boy and a name for a girl if you plan to wait until birth 😊 so everything is still prepped

Did you confirm sneak peak with NIPT. Lol I am a little bit skeptical of sneak peaks false positives for boys as I know at least 3 couples whose "boys" ened up being girls 😂😂

You failed to mention that these sneak peaks are NOT 100% or even 99.9% accurate, despite whatever they claim. Often times I hear moms being disappointed because they trusted their at home BLOOD test that ended up being wrong. Which is also different than the blood test used at a clinic around 13weeks for early gender testing. I’m glad it has worked for you and many other moms, but remind people that it is not always accurate & not a professional/medical testing.

I used that but in-clinic. My blood was drawn for me. I was super paranoid about Y contamination. I had scrubbed and dried myself with previously cooked sponges and towels, wore hot-ironed sleeved over the spots, to destroy any foreign DNA. And the results were right, boy 🩵 (Tested at 7 weeks.)
