Can you do a video on how to protect a newborn from illnesses when you have a young child that is in daycare/school?

Yes! And when is it ok to take a healthy baby out to church, grocery, etc.? I think some of my ppd with my first was from isolating with baby for so long. 🤦🏽♀️

Yes please 😩

We wish there was a magic formula for this, but we can most certainly try to tackle this topic as there are a few things that can help at least a little bit. We also understand that just isolating yourself is not easy and often not the best in the long run.

Both my 2-year-old and I have been sick for the past week. No fevers thank goodness but lots of nose-y troubles and coughing. Thanks for keeping parents informed!

No fun! Hopefully you will both be feeling better soon.

Same here, only thankfully it was mostly just over the weekend. Good excuse for a couple of pyjama days 😅 Oh the joys of young children...

I've had three overlapping illnesses now, it's hit me hard, but luckily not so bad for my 20 month old!

The back-to-back-to-back illnesses are SOOO TOUGH. Hopefully wellness is in the near future for you!!

Great topic!! It's that time of year, my youngest child has been home for two days with conjunctivitis😟. One product that I like beside kids liquid IV is those fever cooling patches, lol I wore them too last flu season they work amazing with the fever meds.

Great point! There are sometimes nice environmental things to do that can help avoid the need for medications.

What fever cooling patches are those? I’d like to get some for my grandkids.

Thank you do that advice! What about strenghten the infants/toddler’s immune system to avoid illnesses? Especially when the polder is on kindergarten? Could you play a video with some advice?😊

THANK YOU! We got that gastro big bad in my house, seems like my 9 year old came home with it first and then my 2 year old got it about 3 days later. I got it 5 days later and then both grandparents got it 3 days after that! My husband also got it in a different way lol. Just insane!! Washing hands out the wazoooo

Thank you for mentioning Kawasaki Disease! I'm an RN now, but at 18mo I had KD (and know all too well how dangerous it can be).

I’d be a sub-par pediatric cardiologist if I forgot to mention this one. 🤓 Hopefully you are well, and thank you for being a great nurse!

Pro tip: infant and children’s Tylenol have the same concentration, but infant Tylenol is much more expensive. You can buy children’s instead and just give them the dose for their weight. 😊
@emily_259914 сағат бұрын
Yes! But also be aware that infant Motrin (ibuprofen) and children’s are not the same concentrations!
@TheDoctorsBjorkman7 сағат бұрын
Absolutely! There is most certainly an easy chance for overdosing with ibuprofen as the infant’s formulation is more concentrated. We buy the children’s for both Tylenol and Ibuprofen to avoid confusion.

Dr. Bjorkman, if I give Ibuprofen, don’t they have to have something substantial in their tummy so it reduces the chance of stomach bleeding? But when my toddler child is sick with a fever, he doesn’t want you to eat, so what should I do or give him so that I can give him ibuprofen?
@TheDoctorsBjorkmanКүн бұрын
Having food in the stomach can reduce the chances of having gastric irritation from ibuprofen. For my kids, I will often try something as simple as a few crackers, bread/toast, or even given with some milk, but I don’t always give a snack for times in the middle of the night - as it’s a short-term use situation.

My 4 year old literally just started running a fever an hour ago this is fate😂

Hopefully it’s short-lived and you avoid it too!
