THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT “LIVE IN COLOMBIA” - AVAILABLE AS DVD, BLU-RAY, 2-CD DIGIPAK, 3 VINYL GATEFOLD AND DIGITAL
On the evening of August 31st, 2013, a large crowd gathered at Parque Pies Descalzos in Medellín, Colombia. When Alan Parsons appeared on stage, along with the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra and his band the audience went wild. This is an audio visual document of that incredible evening.
THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT “Live in Colombia” is available now on earMUSIC as DVD, Blu-ray, 2-CD digipak, 3 x Vinyl, and download.
Alan Parsons was 19 years old when he landed a job at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, an important first step on his journey to becoming a world class engineer, producer and artist. Following his beginnings with George Martin and The Beatles, his contribution to Pink Floyd’s classic ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ earned him worldwide attention. As a producer he had many hits with Pilot, John Miles, Ambrosia and Al Stewart. Together with his manager and creative partner at the time, Eric Woolfson, he developed the Alan Parsons Project.
Following their debut album “Tales Of Mystery And Imagination“ (1976), they released a series of hit albums; namely “I Robot” (1977), “Pyramid” (1978), “The Turn of a Friendly Card” (1980), “Eye in the Sky” (1982), “Ammonia Avenue” (1984), “Vulture Culture” (1985), “Stereotomy” (1986) and “Gaudi” (1987).
Then Parsons and Woolfson called it a day, but Parsons had ambitions to perform the amazing music live. Now to the great delight of his fans, for the first time on a live video and audio recording, THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT combines the talents of his amazing band with the lush sound of a 70-piece symphony orchestra, creating a very special show with unmatched quality. Together, they revitalize hits such as “Eye In The Sky“, “Don’t Answer Me“ and “Sirius“.
The lineup consists of Alan Parsons on acoustic guitar, keys, and vocals, P.J. Olsson (lead vocals), Alastair Greene (guitar, vocals), Guy Erez (bass, vocals), Danny Thompson (drums, vocals), Tom Brooks (keyboards, vocals) und Todd Cooper (saxophone, guitar, percussion, vocals). Alejandro Posada conducts the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra

It is the song that I have chosen for my funeral. From the first time I heard it when I was 17 years old, it was magical. Today at 58 years old, every time I listen to it, I can't help but shed a tear. Thanks for so much beauty

In the dark days, weeks, and months following my late-wife's death, this song became a constant companion. I carried my grief for many years until I was finally able to claw my way out of that pit of despair and sorrow. It has been a decade since her passing and I still wonder, "Who knows when we shall meet again, if ever..." This song is so achingly beautiful that every time I hear it I am brought to tears. "And time keeps flowing like a river... to the sea."

At the age of 81, all the things in my life have, for the most part, gone forever. Still with me are the results of that life. This recording of Time is one of them. I thought the original was beautiful, but this one is so perfect that it hurts to hear it, but hear it I must. It keeps flowing like a river, to the sea.

I'm 73, and the woman I love with all of my heart is 33. Out of necessity, we had to have the discussion that at some point, I will have to leave her forever. She will still be a vibrant young woman, and I will, of course, be dead. There's no way to avoid it, and there's no way it doesn't help to know that each day brings it one day closer to reality. I've never been one to fear death, but that look of sadness in her eyes is terrifying to me. When she heard the lyrics, "Who knows when We shall meet again, if ever," she cuddled up to me and whispered, "When the time comes, if you are out there, I will find you. If I can't find you, listen for me calling your name and find me."

After finding and marrying the absolute love of my life in my early 70's (his, too), we managed to have nearly seven magical, wonderful years together. On May 5, 2022 he was diagnosed with "beginning stage" small cell lung cancer and we were told that with chemotherapy he would live at least another four or five years. He died five weeks later on Father's Day, June 19, 2022. My heart and I are still shattered; every day when I wake up, the grief is still as fresh and overwhelming as it was the instant he took his last breath. What keeps me going is the promise he made to me only a few hours before he crossed over. He had already asked me if I loved him enough to let him go. My answer to him was, "Will I ever see you again?" His answer: "Baby, I will be the first one you see when you get there! I will be standing right there beside Jesus, waiting for you!" I believed him then, and I still believe him now. Time races and creeps, both at once, and I get discouraged having to wait. Then I remember that in Heaven, ten thousand years is no longer than the blink of an eye, and it will be much sooner than later that my sweet love and I will be together again, and this time it will be forever. To those who all too well understand how it feels to be perpetually waiting, remember that blink of the eye, and know that it will pass much quicker than we expect.

I Had the honor of being a teenager in the 60's, and in my 20's in the 70's. What music! Soul, Tamla, Beatles, The British invasion, Moody Blues (one of my favorite albums "Blue Jays) Justin Hayward and John Lodge. When in the Royal Air Force I was a DJ on Forces Radio Sharjah I was 19 and got a love for Radio. Life took me in other directions, on an amazing ride, and yes, it has passed in the blink of an eye. Listening to music has been a great part of my life, reflecting happiness and pain. I came to Panama for work and have stayed ever since. For the last 17 years I realized my dream and have been broadcasting a morning radio show and playing all that amazing music for new audiences that never experienced it. Each piece of music in our lives is that little capsule of time that can transport us to a time and place we remember. "Time" is a song that is beautiful in summing up, that as we have gotten older (now 75) so much is behind us and we are more aware of the fragility of life, this is the song that will be the last song heard by those that come to see me off not to be sad but to be grateful for a love and life for which I am grateful. The chance of any of us even existing on this planet 1 in 280,365,000.00 don't squander it.

I just started listening to APP again and this version of that song is FANTASTIC! The original will forever be awesome but PJ made this version his own. I didn’t even know who he was. His vocal range is great and his voice is powerful wherever he’s at in that range. A lot of singers have his range but lack his endurance and their sound gets weaker as they move into the higher range and lower range. And did I mention, I like the way he works the crowd and stage; he’s awesome!! Alans got himself a gem there.

To clarify, the alleged 1981 live version with PJ Olson on KZbin is actually a performance from 2004. The song was released in 1981 (so perhaps that’s why it says 1981). But PJ would have been 12 years old in 1981. If there are any live versions of the song from 1981, it would undoubtedly be Eric Woolfson (who wrote the song & originally sang it). At any rate, this is a magnificent performance by PJ.

@@Kaleiddmode, ¿por qué esa tendencia a descalificar? This perfectly performed song touches the soul. We are lucky to be alive in a time of humanity that we hear, see and feel such splendid pieces of musical mastery. Who know what great songs they'll be that we will never know after we are all dead and gone but surely this song will stand the test of time and endure well into the future. Music is a blessing.

De outro mundo! Música, arranjos, melodia, voz, intsrumentização fora do comum! Pena que hoje já não existe mais MUSICA! Tive o privilégio de nascer (1955) e crescer a ouvir MUSICA A SÉRIO, E HOJE ME ARREPIO TODO E ATÉ CHORO DE SAUDADES AO OUVIR OBRAS DE ARTE COMO ESTA!
