THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT “LIVE IN COLOMBIA” - AVAILABLE AS DVD, BLU-RAY, 2-CD DIGIPAK, 3 VINYL GATEFOLD AND DIGITAL
On the evening of August 31st, 2013, a large crowd gathered at Parque Pies Descalzos in Medellín, Colombia. When Alan Parsons appeared on stage, along with the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra and his band the audience went wild. This is an audio visual document of that incredible evening.
THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT “Live in Colombia” is available now on earMUSIC as DVD, Blu-ray, 2-CD digipak, 3 x Vinyl, and download.
Alan Parsons was 19 years old when he landed a job at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, an important first step on his journey to becoming a world class engineer, producer and artist. Following his beginnings with George Martin and The Beatles, his contribution to Pink Floyd’s classic ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ earned him worldwide attention. As a producer he had many hits with Pilot, John Miles, Ambrosia and Al Stewart. Together with his manager and creative partner at the time, Eric Woolfson, he developed the Alan Parsons Project.
Following their debut album “Tales Of Mystery And Imagination“ (1976), they released a series of hit albums; namely “I Robot” (1977), “Pyramid” (1978), “The Turn of a Friendly Card” (1980), “Eye in the Sky” (1982), “Ammonia Avenue” (1984), “Vulture Culture” (1985), “Stereotomy” (1986) and “Gaudi” (1987).
Then Parsons and Woolfson called it a day, but Parsons had ambitions to perform the amazing music live. Now to the great delight of his fans, for the first time on a live video and audio recording, THE ALAN PARSONS SYMPHONIC PROJECT combines the talents of his amazing band with the lush sound of a 70-piece symphony orchestra, creating a very special show with unmatched quality. Together, they revitalize hits such as “Eye In The Sky“, “Don’t Answer Me“ and “Sirius“.
The lineup consists of Alan Parsons on acoustic guitar, keys, and vocals, P.J. Olsson (lead vocals), Alastair Greene (guitar, vocals), Guy Erez (bass, vocals), Danny Thompson (drums, vocals), Tom Brooks (keyboards, vocals) und Todd Cooper (saxophone, guitar, percussion, vocals). Alejandro Posada conducts the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra

One of my oldest favourites, I still have the 45 and play it from time to time. My wife died on the 8th July 2021 of cancer, two days after our 25th wedding anniversary, and I will always say, "She was a friend of mine." 😭

I am a person who has always been deeply moved by music. I remember the first time I heard this many years ago. It hit me like a bolt of lightning, bringing me tears. This live version does the same. No attempt was made to change it from the original with the brilliant sax solo being faithful to the studio version. It is incredible how many people here want it played at their funeral, or are drawn to it with the loss of a loved one. An incredible piece of music that has deeply affected the lives of a special group of people. People who like me are genuinely moved by music. Have you ever wondered how it can be that you are deeply affected by music but others around you are completely oblivious? I'm 64 now and having read all the comments here I am sure we are different, more sensitive in a way. Have you seen the film Close Encounters from the 80s? A group of disparate and different people brought together by a common power. I feel the people here are the same. Do you have a hate of injustice? Me too. No I'm not crazy , I'm getting to the 'old and wise' stage of my life. The finishing line is in sight. I have an idea, what if we were all to meet up in the summer of 2025 at my house in France and share our stories and listen to music every evening. Say the top 5 'make me cry ' songs and what they mean to for every person played on a big screen in the garden over a few days. What do you think? Ignore the video on my channel its not my house and its now sold. I used to store my tractor there! Feel free to subscribe to my channel I've got a couple of playlists there. Not all make me cry stuff. I will post a video of my house in July when I return from my hols there. Let's make it happen

This song was played at my brother in laws funeral in July 2020 at his request. He died from terminal cancer aged only 64. He was not old but he was so wise. This embodies everything he was, such a good friend to all he knew. So dreadfully sad and poignant. "When the curtain falls" nearly destroyed us all. I listen to it often and never fail to cry. So so sad.

As far as my eyes can see There are Shadows approaching me And to those I left behind I wanted you to Know You've always shared my deepest thoughts You follow where I go And oh when I'm old and wise Bitter words mean little to me Autumn Winds will blow right through me And someday in the mist of time When they asked me if I knew you I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine And the sadness would be Lifted from my eyes Oh when I'm old and wise As far as my Eyes can see There are shadows surrounding me And to those I leave behind I want you all to know You've always Shared my darkest hours I'll miss you when I go And oh, when I'm old and wise Heavy words that tossed and blew me Like Autumn winds that will blow right through me And someday in the mist of time When they ask you if you knew me Remember that You were a friend of mine As the final curtain falls before my eyes Oh when I'm Old and wise As far as my eyes can see

I have just bought the DVD of this concert to have this song played at my funeral. After playing this track to my 7 year old she asked me why no one else knows this song? That pretty much sums up what is wrong with this world now. Pretend celebrity, nonsense importance and lack of any reality. This track is my go to track for grounding when all else fails.

I've been listening to Alan Parsons since I was a teenager. I'm now in my sixties. I didn't get this song back then. Do I ever get it now... If you are young and this song doesn't move you to tears, just wait. Unless you have ice water in your veins, trust me, it will move you to tears when you are approaching the end of your life. I can't listen to it now without tears streaming down my face. This song is an absolute masterpiece, as is P. J.'s performance.

Played Strawbs and really deep stuff. Also had a commercial AOR station. Introduced me to Terrence Boylan, Lee Clayton, Martin Briley and many others. There is a great terrestial station out of Farmville Va. WXJK . I use onlineradiobox. It plays some deeper tracks than any deep tracks station.

I visited my sister today in the Clatterbridge centre, she is in the latter stages of Pancreatic Cancer. She has suffered so much over the past 8 months, in a month she has endured Covid and to top it all she has Sepsis...she is probably the strongest person, equal to my Mum. Jacque as I told you earlier, you are the best sister I could have...love you so much, this song is much about you ! xxx

@@lespetitszoiseaux3774 Hello, thank you very much for your message, it was a very fascinating experience since from a very young age i began to like the music of Alan Parsons, and as a curiosity i tell you that with a month left until the concert on the channel they gave us several camera test on several cameramen and i was selected, it was a very gratifying moment for me.
