Hey! I've heard the term "one stop" that implies youre the writer and publisher for your own music. Do I need to sign up as a publisher at BMI or ASCAP to submit to these libraries. Thanks for the content. I gotta ask though ... having just discovered the world of sync, 10 tracks per month seems quite difficult ... I'm averaging maybe 1-2 tracks (full songs) a month ... but perhaps because I'm putting full length songs together? I guess ... what are you defining as a track? A full length song with lyrics and vocals around 3:30 - 4:30min? or is this like a 1 to 2 min thing? Sorry for the dumb question but appreciate any input! :)

I mean that every time you see a single placement on your royalty statement, ideally it should be in the $25-50 average range. A single placement on a royalty statement would include 3 months of airing (so quarterly).

I've been producing tracks since 2006 and started sending out tracks in 2007 and still no film or TV placements yet. I created tracks in the format that music supervisors asked for and still no placements. I have tracks sitting in a few different libraries and some has been sitting there for years. I get my tracks professionally mixed and mastered as well. I paid for all types of music placement courses, invested and still invest in so many different sounds as well. What am I doing wrong?

So Jesse you replied to one of my comments the other day and told me that music licensing is a numbers game. I'm a 63 year old writer. I really like r&b and funk from the 60s, 70s and 80s. So my question to you is do you think there is a need for music in that genre. I write strong grooves that come from retro Black Radio. I believe that I could do about 3 or 4 of these a week. This is probably a basic bitch question but can you release your track under an artist name if it’s being licensed to one of these libraries? I’m new to all of this.

How "good" you gotta be to do this? And how free are you in your music style? I usually just make something, and it turns out however it turns out. I never plan a style.....

That approach won't work for Sync Licensing. You need to have a focuses style and genre in order to ensure your tracks are usable with a Library's clients. And in terms of "how good"? That's totally subjective, but as long as your tracks are on par with a Library's current catalogue then you'd be good.

Wow if and if I make 20 tracks in a month and Get 500.00 for 4 tracks and if I got 200.00 for 5 tracks if thats and if the rest gets 600.00 what is next if when or why ? sounds strange !
