04/26/2023: I bought one in white, and I love it. The only thing that I would have liked more would be rolled edges on neck wood. Nope, the wood edge is not rolled as some people say it is. Also, the rounded "bullet shaped" fret wire ends actually hurt my first finger. The bullet shaped fret wire ends are too high (need to be angled downward like all other guitars). And, they are too bumpyish and thumpyish (are they real words?). Yup, I feel this painful bump/thump, bump/thump, bump/thump as my hand travels up/down neck. But, I can fix that with a jeweler's file myself. It will then be a great guitar matching the $1,000.00 guitars.

It’s not difficult to roll the neck yourself … Clamp the neck to your work-bench, aka coffee table and roll away with a suitable tool, I use a bone pick … take your time and don’t push too hard.

Jesus Christ. $400. I'm flabbergasted by the spec list, it just keeps getting better but the price stays the same. Phillip, thank you so much for your first EART review. Because of you, I got an EART Tele, thinking I would remove the neck for a project guitar. But.... it seemed like a good guitar aside from the pickups, and it became a test bed to try Kinman "noiseless" pickups. The EART (with some action work) and Kinman combination was fantastic, worthy of any gig I ever played. That led to another EART (strat), and more Kinmans. Now, I have 5 EART's with various Kinman pickups, and they are as playable and enjoyable as my core PRS's.

Had wife wood burned wildlife sceneries on my Eart 335 .. She was unsure in doing so, but i convinced her since the guitar was free . The guitar arrived with a slight nicked on a single fret wire where Eart not only sent me a fret wire replacement, but refunded the price of guitar. I emailed Eart Support with Pic of nicked fret wire in requesting a preshaped replacement, and mentioned in no need of refund . Eart replied that it's okay 👍 Therefore, i ended up in purchasing a gold 😊T380 .

I have been through more guitars since getting "restarted playing" 4 years ago. Gibson Custom Shops, Fender Custom Shops and probably 30 others in between. My Eart "335" is hands down the best playing (and maybe sounding) guitar I have run across yet. It is what I pickup and feel like I can play anything on. Now on a PRS kick but this Eart 335 is staying with me. It is my always on a stand beside me guitar. Full disclosure, I also bought the Eart NK-C1 Tele. FANTASTIC quality and feel but it never grabbed me by the nuts like their 335 does. If I wasn't headlong into PRS now I would get one of these. Always love your vids! Thanks!

Thanks - great review. At 8:37 you point out that they are not shielding the inside of the pickup cavity - but that looks like a shielded cable coming from inside the pickup's metal case, so I don't think additional shielding is necessary. They have shielded the control cavity, where there is plenty of unshielded wiring.

INFO- Squier 40th Anniversary Strat PRM (Metallic Red) purchased at Thomann - I was so excited and looking forward but I had to send it back !!! (I am a 1984 Graduate GIT and seen a couple guitars over the years) Man was I looking forward to this guitar, especially after seeing some KZbin reviews on this. Here is why I sent mine back. 1. The GOOD - visually pleasing, beautifully packed, a laquered neck (which I love) which feels fantastic, out of the box playable but with string setup too high. 2. The BAD - light but noticable scratches on neck at 1st fret by nut on both sides, (saddle) string height control screws of bridge were like razor blades and thus unplayable, the 3 piece body construction is visible through the beautiful paint (!!!), Fret buzzing and uneven frets detected with Fret Rocker at at lease 4 different places (I accustomed the guitar to the studio for 3 days), 3 very light but clearly visible "dents" of paint job next to pick guard. Last but not least, it felt and sounded "cheap", "trashy" unplugged, and below expectations plugged through amp. I LOVED the feel of the neck, that laquer finished fender type neck felt SO good. If I could purchase that neck independantly I would - and pay a luthier for a refret. I SO much wanted to love and keep this guitar and my expectations were able to pardon some of the shortfalls, but this was really over the top let down. What kind of feedback have you heard or seen from the marketplace ? So my best option is to upgrade my 2009 Squier Affinity which plays and feels a dream. Every note up and down that neck plays and rings beautiful. The Graph Tech saddles replacement corrected the bridge razor blade problems on that one. Just need a pickup or condensor upgrade ?

Just ordered this exact one last night. It’s currently 279 if anyone is interested. I’ve been wanting a t style guitar and a guitar w/ a roasted neck for a couple of years now and was looking at all the major brands but I didn’t want to spend the money and possibly have to change something later. Then Harley benton has their fusion t which looks great in the picture and actually comes with better specs then eart, but it’s close to $80 for shipping and I’ve seen videos lately where there are a lot of qc issues. Plus I really really don’t like the Roswell pickups and these eart pickup’s actually sound ok to me. Hopefully I’m happy with it. If not, it should be easy to ship back since it’s from Amazon 😅

The design of the bridge is also very impressive. Pinch points are elevated with contours to the form of the string making string break uncommon. I see no need to replace anything involving the bridge however it would hold tune with a trem routing and locking tuners.
@imnotthatguy4765 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree with your initial impressions, I thought the same thing when I got my Explorer from them. The frets were the nicest of anything I had ever played, action was great. The problem is after about 6 months I picked the guitar up and suddenly I had dead notes all over the fretboard, quite literally 60% of the notes were suddenly dead out of nowhere. Being in the northeast it's not super uncommon for necks to move and it happens all the time with my other guitars so I checked relief and spot on. Saddles were good. I had used a fret rocker on it when I got it and everything was perfect across the board. To my surprise all of a sudden the fret rocker was tapdancing down the neck. I was like wtf happened? I had literally played it 2 days earlier and it was perfect. So I inspected further to figure out what was going on, looking at the neck from the side I could literally see daylight between the fret and the fretboard at the edges. Some on the bass side, some on the treble side, and some on both. Some of them were so high off the fretboard that I could slide 2 sheets of standard printer paper under it. I would guess that you are totally correct in how they do the hemispherical fret ends, I just happened to get one where the frets were either not properly secured when pressed in, or the neck twisted just enough to dislodge them but not enough to see just looking at it. I tried to use a fret hammer to re-seat them but to no avail, the frets would not stay down. A good fret press to do it myself is 60% of the cost of the guitar, and I'm sure it probably wouldn't be cheap to have a reputable Luthier fix it. I now have a guitar that any intermediate or pro player would deem unplayable. It's absolutely beautiful luckily, so at least it looks nice hanging on my wall. It's so frustrating, because it was genuinely incredible until this happened. I was in the process of filming and editing my first guitar review on it because I was so pleased with it. I ended up not posting it because all of what I said in the video would have no longer been accurate based on my experience. So it has hung on the wall for almost a year looking pretty. I'd be genuinely curious if others have had this happen to them as well, or if I was just unlucky lol.
@gathda Жыл бұрын
I've had my Eart Explorer for exactly one year and so far the frets are fine. Some of my other Earts are older and they are fine, too. I'm hoping it remains that way, but it looks like you may have gotten one where they failed to glue in the frets. I live in Oregon and the weather is much milder here than where you live, so that may have something to do with it. I have a fret clamp, so I should be able to fix them if it happens. My Explorer is beautiful, too, and I'd hate to see anything happen to it.

What about reaching out for a new neck?
@imnotthatguy4765 Жыл бұрын
@@Miloshe71 Great question. Being outside of the return policy by 5 months, I felt it unreasonable to ask the company for the replacement. I've tossed around the idea of just posting the video with an addendum to discuss the issues and see if they reach out to amend the situation I'll know they are truly above and beyond. I did however find it interesting that they stopped selling the Explorer-1 on Amazon shortly after this happened so I couldn't even post a review on there, which would have maybe made a difference at that time. Being someone who has had generally terribly luck, I wouldn't be surprised if I just got a dud. I just want to make sure people are aware it does happen so if it happens to them they know it wasn't just them. Also felt this was a great platform to see if anyone else has faced the same problem.

Gibson and Epiphone should consider taking tips from Eart in terms of creating a coil split that doesn’t sound like a defect in the output jack. I think all the other manufacturers have left Gibson in the dust on that front. Could it be that tension caused by the 2 string retainers is influencing the tuning stability when you use the vibrato bar? My mentor never liked it when guitar strings changed direction after crossing the nut..
@thedobermans Жыл бұрын
Another thing that improves a cheaper guitar's sound is upgrading the saddles. Most of them come with a very light saddle made of pot metal. For about 10 to 20 dollars, you can get solid brass machined saddles which add lots of sustain and reinforce the tone of the guitar.

I'm starting my own line of guitars. The hardest thing was to think of the name to put on the headstock. Everything I thought of had been taken, until I found one that was too good to be true and it seems to be available. I'm not going to reveal the name yet, but it will be easy to pronounce and it has six letters just like Fender, Gibson and Martin. It sounds a bit Latin so hopefully it will be popular in all of the Western hemisphere and parts of Europe. I've owned businesses before and I know that the number one rule of success is: "Don't make crap and don't sell crap." Every guitar will be checked by more than one tech. Wish me luck.

Guitar prices are weird. You can get something now for $150 that is amazing but not ten years ago when a Gibson faded special sg used was only $399. I bought my Gibson sg special faded for only $350 at guitar center in 2018 but a $300 guitar brand new was garbage at the same time. I’m glad we can get cheap guitars nowadays that are great but it really sucks that fender and Gibson really inflated the hell out of their prices since 2020

First off,..I love your reviews! Great job! I just received a T-380 and agree with and love just about everything about this guitar. However, 2 things I noticed is that the bridge plate rested on the body, and did not free float. That was just a simple claw adjustment to make the bridge plate float parallel with the body and float smoothly. The thing that I find inexcusable is that the neck is very flat, borderline convex, and and even after loosening the truss rod Till it has no pressure on the neck, and put in a humidity controlled room at 50% humidity, it has not moved in a day. I even tried the old “put downward pressure on the neck physically” and it does not move or give at all. Needless to say, I’m going to return this one and have ordered a second one to see if there is any difference. I’ll let you know what happens. Q; Did you find that there was ZERO give to the neck? Do you feel it’s because it’s been “roasted” , finally does it feel like it came shipped with 10 gauge strings on it? Any feedback would be really appreciated. (I’m sure you have thousands of comments to read through) Sincerely, Mike

I find that buying a used guitar is the better option, you can find some mid range guitars with 300$ in pickups and hardware for $400-$600. I was probably the first person to guinea pig eart waaayy back almost three four years ago now ...there were literally under five reviews per guitar but the headless ones had some amazon acclaim so I pulled the trigger. Oh my god. My first guitar was a damn Stratacoustic for $299 back in the early 2000s. I got the eart for $230 + some duties, and it's literally my #2 favourite guitar (after some mods) and I have a large collection of Japanese and Korean Ibanez guitars that don't feel as loose as this...maybe it's the weight but I love my eart Strat. Yeah it's silly to compare a Stratacoustic to anything but ...that's what fender used to be like in the low middle range. Squiers of the time we're literally unplayable by anyone short of Tommy E

It's funny too ..I replaced the tuners with Chinese locking tuners on mine but I made absolutely sure the tuning pegs were exactly the same as the stock ones becasue....they feel SO GOOD on your fingers... I wish EART allowed you to buy the necks separately. It would be great to be able to find stainless steel frets roasted maple and that ball end fret work for even the price of the entire guitar

Or you could buy the entire guitar and sell the body for cheap😂

Hello, Phil, Would there be a Squier or lower prices Fender which you might be able to recommend for pro or semi-pro use, that might be able to stand up to the rigours of the road, but would also prove to be a good foundation for some mild custom work (budgeting for a pickup swap/electronics upgrade)?! It really is the quality of the woodwork/construction that would be most important and doesn't necessarily have to be from the Fender stable, but if it was "Fender-ish", that would be wonderful. I was hoping to put some nice Humbuckers (HH) or Soapbar (SS) pickups in it. Thank-you, for your time, Luke.
