I have no idea how one could listen to the 2nd half of this album and think, "this production isn't diverse enough". I Prefer the first half of the album, but the 2nd half has WAY more dynamic sound than the first half. That's kind of a nuts take, to me.

Myke's trippin, he sounded perfect for that

@Tre_17175 жыл бұрын
I feel like having the album with the first 6 tracks is supposed to be the hype and enjoyment of going to the theme park. The project is based off their theme park so first 6 tracks is the fun of the theme park and after half the day of being there you start to get drained and that could be the feel for the second half of the album. It’s just my opinion I could be totally wrong but I just thought of that comparison while listening to the album. Great album by the the way they had some underrated lyrics too
@FlavurbyK5 жыл бұрын
Big facts
@FlavurbyK5 жыл бұрын
And i agree with your take on it. Just to add to that, it's a theme park type album but also don't forget the theme of the title, Mirrorland.. Throughout the whole album they maintain the theme of reflection also, so it's a theme park that's, at the same time, is reflecting and stating to the listener their trials & tribulations, life up until they've started to become known worldwide; like just overall reflecting introspectively & in retrospect what's still ongoing in their lives whether positive or negative. - apologies for the extraness, just my added 2cents yo
@Tre_17175 жыл бұрын

@@chrilborn4138 U think so? Idk it held up to my anticipation for the most part.. what was ur fave project by them? my fave is still Strays With Rabies. 1 of my faves of this generation as well as Toys With Shallow Graves, I might like that more too, Torba was amazing too, they have such a great and underrated discog.. to me this was better than Dicapario 2, I found that a bit overrated and didn't like it as much as everyone else minus a few.. I still love J.I.D. but I find that didn't have as much heart or an underground vibe as his earlier stuff
@chrilborn41385 жыл бұрын
@@docm4544 it's a toss up between strays and shallow graves for me. I do think they've improved at making hooks for their songs on mirrorland tho. The old stuff just had really vivid lyricism for the most part (aside from doc just poetically describing having sex every single song lol) I also feel like the older albums felt more original and didnt have as many blatant Outkast-isms. I love outkast tho so I guess that's not too big of a complaint. Idk the album is only a few weeks old so maybe I have to sit with it more , but I am not as drawn to it like the older albums/tapes. DiCaprio 2 has more replay value for me personally though. JID is my favorite rapper out rn though lol but I understand where you are coming from Uhhhh I hope any of that makes sense Sorry kinda stoned
@docm45445 жыл бұрын
Chris Kilbourn I feel u bro, I think their older stuff was more lyrical and raw and unique, but this is still really unique too and def still bringin bars and touchin on social issues, regardless I'm satisfied with this, and they're just gettin started, they're only gonna get better, unless they go down a commercial route which I hope they don't! I was into EG before J.I.D and i just like their lyricism and content more, but J.I.D is def 1 of the kings right now and EG don't have the commercial appeal to be the next Kendrick, but I feel like D2 was hyped up so much and as a whole from front to back lots of skippable tracks, prob only 5-6 tracks i loved, with sayin that tho Off Da Zoinkys & Just Da Other Day are 2 of his best tracks ever
@chrilborn41385 жыл бұрын
@@docm4544 Just Da Other Day is so underrated! I'm just a sucker for his flow, I love almost everyone of his songs for that. But I also think Earthgang were way better than JID when they all first started out, he didnt come into his own really until the Never story (at least for me) but yeah my criticisms aside Mirrorland is dope and I still love EG and JID. They are definitely pushing rap forward

What didn't u like? cuz for me following EG for about 3-4 years and being huge into them, this pretty well hit my anticipation level, nothing I don't like, but Trippin does feel outta place and is the weakest for sure, its cool though.. but Strays With Rabies and Toys With Shallow Graves are still better
@yakuzamoons5 жыл бұрын
@@docm4544 yeah I feel you, it wasn't so much I didn't like it as I just had huge expectations. Strays is wayyyy more cohesive overall as a project. I actually love Trippin lol just hate Kehlani's part 😂 I don't thinking features did all that well on this one.

I really enjoyed the album. We have to remember this album is a build up of the previous projects, rags, royalty, and robots. This is mirrorland. It's based on the Oz. So it is like a different world. No longer in kansas. So i felt that the intensity of the begining was to show how magnificent and different this mirrorland is. The high of the first time. The second part was exploring in detail thies wierd and exotic place where monkeys fly, and strange things happen.
