The Hizumitas sounded so much better in the Drop G# tuning. Full and thick, with some top end still present. Definitely going to buy this pedal for my 7-string and detuned guitars. Great demo (as always!).

Recent huge fan of your channel. I run a Rat and a Hizu in parallel with the EHX Switchblade pro. It kicks ass. I boost them currently with an SD-1, now seeing this video a few times had to grab a DS-1 and try it. I play in drop A so this rules hearing it in low low. Great work!

Seems like the Hizumitas works very well with another pedals. I use Proco RAT with an overdrive and it turned out to be a wonderfull fuzz. I can get a different texture with the Hizumitas... Thanks for sharing!

I have an octave fuzz into Hizumitas and it’s pretty nice too-to boost plus octave. One thing also, it’s super quiet as in no noise/buzz etc. (unless you are hitting the strings, in which case, it’s huge!). Well-made pedal.

The hizumitas is more consistent across the whole spectrum range of the knob sweeps. This is a killer pedal. when combined with the Ds-1, it’s a crushing sound. Love it

As someone loving their Hizumitas currently and looking for the ideal "secret sauce" type of pedal to stick in front of it to step on when I want to drive the Hizu even harder (currently using a JHS morning glory to do this), I very much appreciated this video!

Ended up with a black russian muff to mod it for a friend and it really rounded out my stacked high gain fuzz tone with the extra bass and that smooth fuzz so i've been looking for something smaller that has those characteristic and it looks like I found it! Stacking it with the DS-1 helped me get a better idea. This is going probably going to sound even better than the black russian. Want it to sound like a mammoth coming through when I chug lower notes.

I dunno, that DS-1 into the Big Muff sounded pretty magical to me. 🤷♂️ #toneissubjective
@peteytwofinger3 жыл бұрын
tone is subjective ! truer words have not been spoken but how has this been ignored . the guitar comunity speaks in blanket statements and in absolutes . my ears , my gear my music my tone my taste are not yours , and thats ok . most importantly , one can just as soon spend your entire life on youtube watching gear demos , reading comment sections where people attempt to elevate themselves above the next guy because of something they bought . me i will make some music , i will write , i will play , i will record , and i could care less who is not listening . if a great song falls in a forest and no one hears it does that make it less of a great song ? that being said the internet and gear demos are great and i aprove . its the dick measuring contest aspect and flexing in the comment sections that make me ashamed to be associated with any of this stuff . dont get me started on the dress up stuff , i will just say you wont catch me looking like a pirate , i will not be acessorizing with jewely , scarves , american flags , tattoos and i will not be growing a rediculously huge beard wearing pilgrum hats ... hence i will not be heard . thats perfectly fine with me . i will not be djenting either . my guitars have six strings and they are tuned at 440 . talk about a fuddy duddie . thats me half way thru recording a dozen or so songs that i do every year starting on january 10th . who cares , no one but if i looked like i just strolled out of a coal mine circa 1890's covered in ink with quaker cap and a 25 year neck beard my chances would significantly skyrocket . "we" listen with our eyes . frank zappa was so right - tinsel town rebellion . nothing has changed since he wrote that except that its gotton a LOT worse .

I think most of the time Wata actually uses it the other way around, Elk/(now Hizu) into DS-1. at least that’s early Boris, stuff like Akuma no Uta. Her current pedalboard and sound palette suggests otherwise.

Triangle sounds more crunchy, Hizumtas sounds more scooped. Boosted with Ds 1, both sounds too flabby. I love Muffs (have one permanently on my board), but I guess it's the Orange / Matamp & Model T stacks played stupid loud that are the meat of Boris tone.

To my ears, the Hizumitas can get way more fat & heavy than the EHX muff
@druariel3 жыл бұрын
Liked video. Entertaining. But the difference was pretty apparent early on. The center of the mid scoop is in a different part of the spectrum, and is shallower for the EQD and the EHX’s bass response droops below E or D. Still, great detail in the comparisons! Keep it up. Did this channel do a ‘Rat-into-muff, or vice versa?’ video that I don’t see any more? Anyway that gets a similar result to this secret sauce (edit: I found the video)

There is another factor missing here that kinda gets overlooked. I wish I could find them but there used to be like 20 years ago on boris site pictures from around that time period and there was no triangle muff. It was a ds-1 and a v6 big muff. These photos were undated and there was next to nothing out there on boris in either Japanese or english. So this could be like just pre-heavy rock version 1. I also kinda think a combination of volume and the fac tone shaping on a vintage orange would get you even closer. That might be as close as you can get with just 2 pedals and not a period correct head with the same cab (with speakers worn in in exactly the same way). Anyway it is a shame a lot of the early info on boris is gone. Like the tour diary of their first UK tour where wata was using (and always seemed to be photographing) London city amps. The only thing I absolutely remember from those photos is she had an Ibanez echo machine (em5) on her board. I suspect she might have just borrow a pile of gear because of voltage differences with the space echoes and the costs of flying but God only knows.
@fiveways3 жыл бұрын
The photos are from well before the earliest ones you will easily find online. The ones with the dyna comp and the Seymour Duncan boost. Those are from the pink tour 2006 with growing opening for them (a friend of mine took those photos year ago).
