I love watching the frogs use their little hands! "Get in mah Belleh!"

The first darker frog ate it like spaghetti^^ Also, it looks so cute when the frog helped itself with its hands.

Awesome video. I use earthworms for my DeKay's brown snakes. My bigger one I have to cut the worm into 3rds. But I have 2 smaller DeKay's that I have to basically mince the worms into tiny bits for their tiny mouths. Which is kind of adorable. 😊

A little fun fact about the red wigglers: their scientific name is Eisenia fetida/foetida, which is obviously the same word in English "fetid". So it's a very specific thing for the animal. There are other Eisenia species that don't have that smell and probably taste

You're so right about red wigglers being a tough feeder, I bought a container of about 45 for my smaller axolotl. He kept halfway eating them and then rejecting them, I was worried he was sick but it seems he just didn't like the taste. My larger one ate them fine oddly enough. I mainly feed the large nightcrawlers to my axolotls and WTFs. However one of my WTFs is not a fan of earthworms he tends to spit them out. Are earthworms considered stable diet for WTFs? Other than that he will eat crickets and small mealworms occasionally.

Nightcrawlers are the only bug my leopard gecko never cared for! He stared, but he never took. It was more just… entertaining I guess. I didn’t cut it up, to be fair.

You said something about gut loading? Great video.
@JessicasAnimalFriends2 жыл бұрын
Here this may be helpful: www.thamnophis.com/forum/husbandry/7286-gut-loading-worms.html It’s not super common, in my research, to gutload earthworms but people who are breeding their own or trying to sustain a constant supply will use a good compost to feed the worms.

Can leopard geckos eat earthworms? Sahyu is eating again for a bit, so mire variety would be cool.
@JessicasAnimalFriends2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s a “normal” food choice for them and I’ve never tried it myself, but do a bit of research and see if others have had good experiences :)
@Dragonemperess2 жыл бұрын
@@JessicasAnimalFriends Apparently leos aren't a fan due to the taste the "collar" of the earthworm secretes. And it's too high in moisture. But I can tell you that Sahyu was a fan of a small grasshopper I brought for her, so there is that, at least. Too bad they're 2$ each. T-T If it wasn't for the cost, maybe they could have been a replacement for crickets. I wonder if there is a place that sells grasshopper nymphs in bulk?
@Dragonemperess2 жыл бұрын
@@JessicasAnimalFriends Also, is it okay to add canned insects to her diet for the sake of variety?
@actual______criminal2 жыл бұрын
@@Dragonemperess no, you wanna stick to live. there’s a reason why you never see people feeding their reptiles dried insects on any of these petuber channels
@Dragonemperess2 жыл бұрын
@@actual______criminal Okay. Just thought it would be good to add some variety in her life. Although she loves her dubias enough that she wouldn't mind just dubias. Not gonna happen baby girl. XD I'm still in the covid mindset where feeders were hard to get if you didn't raise them yourself, but I see that Josh's Frogs now has stock and I'm gonna take advantage of that. :D

Someone made a comment about gut loading, and I have a question about that. It isn’t about earth worms. I have been trying to gut load my mealworms with this nutrition mix that I bought from Josh’s frogs. It says it is for crickets but can also used for mealworms and other feeders. I just wanted to get something nutritious without having to constantly do veggies. I was wondering if you have any recommendations for what to get as far as something pre mixed. I’ve seen different stuff. It just seems like they aren’t really eating the mix I got and use it more as bedding. lol
@JessicasAnimalFriends2 жыл бұрын
I personally use fresh veggies to gutload my feeders.

How many earthworms do your frogs eat on feeding night
@JessicasAnimalFriends Жыл бұрын
If they’re large I’ll cut one in half and give them each 2-3 halves
@Mothobius Жыл бұрын
Why did you refer to get wrigglers separately from earthworms? Red wrigglers are earthworms too
@JessicasAnimalFriends Жыл бұрын
Yes you’re right I should’ve said night crawlers instead
@rebel4466 Жыл бұрын
That's why I can't stand common names personally. They're often inaccurate and group different animals together, even though they're not even closely related.
