I'm glad you liked it Scott. It's impermeable and can be jet washed a week or so after installation! You can use it in the wet. It's just less stress in the dry. In wet conditions, it'll turn into a slurry, but once it's in, it'll be solid in no time. Cementitious with no epoxy or polymer so suitable for all stone.

Would it keep closer to the top of the tile if you brush it very gently? Or is it a matter of the product naturally compacting when moist and sinking in?

I've literally just got in from using this for the first time this evening. Thank you for recommending it on Facebook. I'll be honest, I never would have considered it and would have wrongly assumed it to be a DIY product. I'm really impressed with it, it looks good and was so easy to apply. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction 🙏

I have been using Nexus V75 two part epoxy resin slurry for the last couple of years because it is more waterproof and rated for 8 tons. It is great stuff, but as you say, its stressful. Around 18 months ago did 120m2 of Indian paving with it, it was a gorgeous warm sunny day when doing and when I left, but through the night it had light rain which resulted in the sheen on the flags going white because of something called Amine bloom. A tense couple of days thinking its going to cost me weeks of work and money, but the manufacturers said to put white viniger on it to make it go clear again, 60 litres later, and 2 days and the patio was 95% back to normal. I nearly resorted to having a sandblasting firm come in to take off the surface sheen. Long story short, they do not tell you the epoxy can not get any moisture on it at all until it is fully cured, ironically, it says it can withstand light rain while installing, bullshite!

Grouting used to be a easy process years ago and now it’s all so complicated with so many choices of grout products I think the best grout will always be sand and cement same stuff to lay the dam things 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 I’m feel your pain

@@tidybrickslandscaping. Up until three years ago, I always used a sharpsand mortar to point my flagging, used one of those moratar guns to speed up the process. I never use the pre-mixed stuff with it being water permible.
@chrisbow1776
@chrisbow1776 Жыл бұрын
@@tidybrickslandscaping , I am a relatively new convert to epoxy resin pointing. I like it because it is so quick to use, but I have occasionally considered going back to mortar pointing. The only trouble with mortar pointing is that it is just not as strong as this Nexus stuff, and that is using a 3 to 1 sharp sand and cement mix, Nexus v75 sets like cast iron., saying that, I have used for the last three years, so not sure yet the longevity of it, I would never use the pre-mixed stuff you get from B&Q etc, that stuff is garbage and crumbles in no time.

Hey Scott, been watching a ton of your videos lately, just trying to learn. I'm doing my own patio tile (20mm porcelain 600x600 mm tiles). Now, my only experience tiling before was my own kitchen backsplash, and I must say, even though it was stressful, I am very glad I did the work myself, it is literally laser straight, flat as can be and I took my time doing the tiles around plugs extremely carefully. When doing my backyard prep, I asked a man at the construction supplies store, what kind of groundwork prep needed to be done to pave my patio. So because my language is not English, I think when I said "pave", he must have understood I wanted pavers, not tile, which is understandable, and it was my mistake. So I ended up doing 4 inches of digging, then filling it with 2 inches of crushed stone and 2 inches of rough sand on top (more like coarse tiny tiny pebbles), and compacting that in (rented a vibrating compactor). The sand is compacted enough to walk on top of, and it doesn't deform, but if you dig at it slightly with the heel (or my dog scratches at it after taking a cheeky dump), it leaves "gouges" and it shifts. My fear is that I have the wrong material to put porcelain tile on top of, and that the tiles are going to end up breaking after a while if the sand shifts. My plan so far is to do everything as per your videos, but leaving a good 3 inches of cement (5:1) so I have plenty of material for the tiles to not shift or break. My question is, should I delay the project, somehow dig up the 1 ton of sand (2 inches), and get more crushed stone and compact that? Is sand good for tiles? The ground prep has me worried and I can't find a video that goes over that topic in depth. I don't want to make a mistake there, and I'd like to do this "the proper way" so it'll last me a good long while.
@tidybrickslandscaping
@tidybrickslandscaping Жыл бұрын
Hi Andre and yeh it’s a same you said pave and not tile as that’s 2 different things unfortunately. So definitely remove the sand as that’s just a complete no no and replace that with more crushed stone the suggested amount is 100mm of stone then around 30mm cement 4;1 ratio possibly you can use the grit sand for the cement as that would be fine 👍 Overall depth of a patio should be 150mm hope this has helped you sort the issue out 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I've just done 50m of 20 mm porcelain out the back, still have 40m to go. It's not too difficult to grout but that stuff looks super easy. I'd probably use a softer brush when sweeping away the excess, might reduce lowering of the grout levels, still, couple of mm aint gonna make much difference. Great job Scott.

Problem for me is everyone thinks they're great at first but how can the longevity of them fully be known? Also think the permeable ones should be avoided. Keep up the good work👍👍

Excellent scott 👍 is that for non permeable and permeable? I see most brush in jointing compounds are for permeable only as it turns green if done on non permeable as the moisture just sits in the joints and attracts the algae. Been stung on a few jobs with that as clients or contractors adamant it's the stuff they want to use. How's the stress now being on the brickwork and smaller jobs?

@@jc8023 don't get me wrong...flowpoint is a great product, but I'm usually on my own and I find the rush to make sure it's all cleaned up is stressful. I haven't got any horror stores, but I have been 'caught out' usually by being too greedy, with it drying quicker than I can get to it. Do half bags you might say...well, flowpoint is known for its accuracy, so you really need to measure it out and gauge the water accordingly...just more faff.
