Fair play to you Justin. You did a great job. I used flowpoint on my own a few weeks back. A similar warm day. Mixed as directed. Poured half of it out and squeegee’d. Came back to the bucket to pour the other half out and it had already gone off. It wouldn’t even pour out. Spent the next hour jet washing and scrubbing the first lot off the tiles. Stained them pretty badly. Majorly stressful.

Top tip mate, when your grouting the overhangs on the edge of a patio just get some duct or maskin tape and tape the underside of the slab and the upstand that way the grout can't escape and will save you going back over at a later point just get it all done in one go buddie 👍 keep up the good work

You have inspired me and I think I will have a bash at that. Of course I will be doing it on my own so I think I will mix half a bag at a time. I have Indian limestone which was professionally laid , I use that term loosely, and I have half a dozen loose tiles to remedy before I tackle the grouting. The grout lines are quite wide 10-15 mm if I recall correctly - once I rake them out - would you recommend I put some fine gravel in the bottom - to reduce the amount of flowcoat I am going to be ‘shovelling’ in there? Where did you get your big floor squeegee from?

I've just done half of mine today on my own, I'm a diyer and that was extremely stressful! It was only about 14c here today and it dried out on the surface of the tile but hadn't set in the joint fully so I'm not sure what I did wrong. I got the stuck stuff off but the joint ended up low so I ended up doing another mix to go over it. Other half is being attempted tomorrow, hopefully it goes better.

Cracking job Justin, patio and grouting looks amazing - not the sort of job I'd willingly tackle that's for sure, best left to the professionals. There's obviously a chemical reaction taking place as the Flowpoint goes 'off', and I guess many guys have left the process too late, resulting in the stained tiling feared by all. My question then is this - does Flowpoint have a remedial chemical reaction product? To reverse the process?

Dolphin tape round the wood Justin. Flowpoint easiest product out there to use. Just good preparation but for me on tiles to grainy finish. But main issue is no matter always seem to get super fine white pin striping real pain in the ass. Every had any issues with that Justin ? Big fan the product only use on concrete natural products really now. Saying that 150sqm marshalls Indian sandstone used there Flowpoint type grout got white bits appearing on edge and yet and there technicall had no answers all there products used. About is much use chocolate fire guard them lot. Superb job yet again buddy. 🤟🤟

Its a cost thing lee i give people options on grout .All grout has its issues in my opinion lee. The smooth flow point is way better than the standard product. If you clean it off really well the white efflorescence is less but yes ive seen it . Im still waiting for a user friendly grout system thats easier to install lee. I find the grout is one of the hardest parts to do on a patio. Hope your well lee cheers mate 👍 👌
@BobbyThurwell
@BobbyThurwell 9 ай бұрын
Is that the same as that, Lee? : Dolphin tape encircles the wooden area, Justin. Flowpoint is undeniably the most user-friendly product available. Adequate preparation is crucial, though, especially when working on tiles to achieve a smoother finish. However, my primary concern revolves around an ongoing challenge: the persistent occurrence of exceptionally fine white pin-striping. It's a frustrating issue. Have you ever encountered this, Justin? I'm a big admirer of the product, restricting its use to concrete and natural surfaces. Having said that, on a 150sqm expanse of Marshalls Indian sandstone where Flowpoint-type grout was employed, I noticed the emergence of white bits along the edges. Curiously, despite using various products from the same company, their technical support was unable to provide any effective solutions. Their usefulness is comparable to that of a chocolate fire guard-practically nonexistent.

Tip it out the bag into the supplied bucket and wet it up so it’s completely wet and use a pointing iron and off you go . Keep the paving dry if you can and use it from the bucket with a trowel the paving will brush off nice and easy compared to it being wet, Make sure you really compact it in there especially when you reach 2 corners .
