An excellent video covering all the important tips for success that only someone who has experience can tell you. Thank you so much. Along with the brands how to video I’m now confident that I can do this job with good results. Bit worried about those pesky weed roots and seeds though so I’m glad you highlighted this as I’ll now take more time over the prep. So far I’ve just I pressure washed out all the old dirt and grout on one patio. Work in progress.

Good luck with the process, the key to this stuff is 90% in the prep!

Super helpful video. The fence panel tip was inspired, worked much better than the grouting tool. I did 25 m2 of raj blend (4 different sizes) and used 2 boxes exactly. Thanks again for the vid

I used this stuff and followed similar instructions - worked great. The only thing I found different is that it took a lot longer to go off and harden. I had to leave it a week or so. At one point I didn't think it would go off but it did and it has lasted really well.

I have mistake 2 1:05 that all the weeds with its root deep down into joint were not removed thoroughly. A month later, clover weed burst out from the pointing. 😢 Now I realized I should use weed killer and let the weed die completely before repointing sika fastfix. Other youtube vidoes only tell you how to do it, and yours are great to tell how to do it successfully.

Used a product made by Marshalls which seems to work on the same principle. Applied the product in ideal weather conditions which was a damp overcast day with some drizzle. The stuff I used definitely had some sort of resin mixed in with it so clean your tools well afterwards. Also watch out for surfaces you don't want grouting. Once set I noticed it was porous but so far no sign of any frost damage and it seems to be quite durable. It's not a cheap option but I would have been able to pick out the original "expert applied" sand and cement grouting with a teaspoon.

Yeah I agree this stuff is better than sand and cement, but certainly more expensive!

Top tip - if you have part of bag left over at the end pour into the tub and cover fully with water with at least an inch of water on top so the sand resin does not go off and can be used months later for re-pointing if needed which it will 👍

Great video, been doing all the prep work today, light rain tomorrow of course think it’s ok to do during light rain and it won’t impact the curing?

Yeah you'll be fine, will just take an extra day to cure if it's a decent downpour. Good luck with it!

We moved in a while back, patio laid by previous owners, only had sand between, so after a few pressure washes, there's nothing left and weeds grown constantly between. We've bought this stuff, but there between 3 and 0mm between slabs, will this still work?
@sumeraybuilds
@sumeraybuilds 8 ай бұрын
It’s all about whether you’ll be able to properly compact it down. If your gaps are non existent in some areas then you likely won’t be able to compact it and should look to use something else. Good luck!

Great video, thank you. Would you recommend this product to be used just to repair the area where the grout has gone in an old patio and top up where needed? Many thanks
@sumeraybuilds

@@sumeraybuilds I was a bit disappointed by it. I thought it was going to become very hard but it's not rock solid like cement. I think this is decent to fill the gaps underneath but you still need to use cement on top or probably should just use the 2nd one. At least in my case...

Great video. Do you have a tip how to clean the stains off the paving. I used the charcoal colour and have black stains. I’m thinking of using a product called ‘Wet & Forget’.
@sumeraybuilds
@sumeraybuilds 12 күн бұрын
I haven't used anything for this so nothing to recommend unfortunately. If it's of any comfort I had one slab stained becuase it wasn't wet enough and 1 year later it's dissapeared.

Great video, my patio is 3 years old and the people that did it did not compact the resin. I need to re do it. When you are compacting do you put the stuff that comes out back in and recompact ? Also, what do you do with the stuff left all over the slabs ? Thanks dude
@sumeraybuilds
@sumeraybuilds Ай бұрын
No I wouldn’t reuse the old resin from 3 years ago. I’d take out all of the old stuff and then redo it in the areas that need it. Anything left over gets brushed off and thrown away. Good luck!

Does this stuff brush off easily? I am worried that using this on wet sandstone will leave a residue that stains if brushed off and not washed off.

Is this stuff hard enough to hold slabs in place that rock slightly with the existing cracked grout? I'm hoping to avoid lifting and relaying them all if possible!
@pete.i7057
@pete.i7057 8 күн бұрын
It will for a while but the realand lasting way is to lift and relay just the wonky slabs. The grout is not there to stop the slabs shifting, it is to give a pleasing finish and to help prevent weeds and moss infesting your cracks.

How do you remove it once dried? Because we've recently had Indian stone laid and they used black grout, which is an eye sore.

Great for “all right on the night” and DIY but for a professional job you should avoid at all costs. Sand & cement, if done correctly with additives will by far outlast this crap and cost a fraction of the price.

I’ve recently done another patio and went sand and cement, mainly to save money and the brown colour suited the slabs. But this has nearly been down a year and they’re still holding up very well!
