Easiest chipping method ever. If I could get people to only ever watch one of my videos to lower your golf score this would be the video. In this video golf tip Brian Fitzgerald The Golf Doctor shows you two esay chipping methods that should transform your golf. One of these is so easy you can do it with one hand behind your back. It involves very little technique and everyone can get immediate results with it.

My name is Brian Fitzgerald - I'm an Australian full time golf coach living in Melbourne and coaching at two venues. The Morack Public GC in Vermont South and the Lang Lang GC in beautiful South Gippsland (An hour and a quarter from Melbourne) where there are lot's of Kangaroos.
FAQ:
How long have you been a golf coach? I qualified as a full member of the Australian PGA back in 1985. Wow I don't feel that old.
Why do you make videos for KZbin? That is a great question and one I get asked a lot. I love helping people play better golf and people tell me I have a very unique coaching style that is very simple to understand. We really should do things simpler. I just make them to help people and if people like my videos they can either come for a golf lesson in person or if that is not possible you could join my membership program and I can then view your golf swing or any part of your game and really help improve what you do.
Do you always change some ones golf swing? To be perfectly honest I try not to. If I do try to change some ones golf swing I have to have a pretty good reason for doing so and the client has to be fully engaged and committed to both regular coaching and practice in order to make that change. Most people say they will do both with good intentions but most fall away pretty quickly.
So my preference is to change things that will improve their score easily. There are so many different ways to do this.
What do you film with? - I have a few few different cameras I use. An old GoPro Hero 4, an iPhone 6 and iPhone X, A Sony ZV1 and an old Panasonic Handy cam (I'm using that less and less now). I record my sound on an old iPhone 4.
What do you edit with? - About a year ago I switched to Adobe Premiere - prior to that it was Pinnacle Studio
Do you make money off KZbin? - Yes.It took me over 100 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense and then another 50 videos to make my next $100. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - Here's my ko-fi where you can buy me a coffee, beer or a burger should you wish (kind of like giving me a tip via : ko-fi.com/theg...
Thanks for watching!

Hi Brian Such a simple yet important message in today's vlog. This is where the high scores hide, waiting to trap us . We overcomplicate the shot and wham the high score strikes. I need to escape lockdown!!! Made a nice lamb rosemary and garlic pie today. It tasted great with baby boiled potatoes and veg . Stay safe and thanks for the tips. By the way the new 60 degree turned up .....and I can use it. Cheers🇬🇧🇦🇺🏌️⛳

Hi David, Roast lamb with rosemary sprigs and garlic cloves, potatoes and lashings of gravy is my favourite dish. Hope your golf is going well. Regards Mike (from mental golf sessions).

I am between breakfast and lunch and am now salivating at your description of your pie. You are so right David. There are mine shafts everywhere waiting for us to fall into. Over complication is a thing most golfers seem to think is what golf is about. Simple is always a good thing in my view. Hang in there. Lock down will end. Stay busy. Revisit the replays of our mental training courses you have attended. Get out in the back yard/front yard and shallow out your attack with your 60 degree. We will chat soon. I appreciate your feedback as always. Most of all have a slice of pie for the Doc.

Excellent suggestion and demonstration Brian on the alternative methods in chipping! I have used both of your suggestions of hybrids and irons; however, I have never used a driver. At one time, I used a five fairway wood and only until recently have I gone to a three hybrid. With these clubs, I use your putter setup with a more upright shaft angle and my "palm" putter grip. On the longer shots, where the pin is more toward the deep middle or back of the green, I use a seven or eight iron and your method (again though, with a more upright shaft angle). Great Job Brian! I'm either learning from you or you're substantiating things I am working on.

Great strategy John. You don't have to use a driver but I think it is educational to at least try. Driver, fwy wood and hybrids just make chipping so much easier and there is less technique involved. The upright shaft and both hands turned slightly under makes it harder to use your hands which os why it is a great technique. You are one of the most prolific viewers of my videos John and I am humbled that you are finding them helpful. Brian

Thanks again for the update on chipping. Your willingness to share your time and and advice is appreciated. I particularly liked the comment about tilting the shaft. I have recently discovered that tilting and or face of club is a good thing.Particular so when you have a difficult lie.Pete

Hi Peter, Thanks for your feed back. I love helping people so it is a pleasure to make these videos. I do so for the people that I coach primarily. If any one else finds them and watches them that's great. Learning to control the club face so it can do our work for us is in my opinion one of golfs basics. Let the club do the work. I am glad you enjoy my work. Thanks for watching. Brian

GDA Brian. Just been outside to the backyard driving range to try out your tip on opening the grip and placing the tip on the ground. I used the pitching wedge, 52 degree and 60 degree wedges and i am delighted to report that it worked!! The grip was awkward at first but I got used to it. I am playing Ranfurlie tomorrow so I will try it out on their greens. The only qualification is that the grass in our backyard is a bit long so the ball was sitting up nicely. My wife will likely fix that, because while i play golf, she will mow the lawns.

You are indeed a very lucky man Garry. That’s all I am going to say on that matter. I’m gland you were brave enough to give it a go. You are right the grip is awkward but as you discovered it works. Have fun at Ranfurlie today. They are really big lumpy greens there so you may find a little less loft to be beneficial to make the ball roll more. Have fun. Say hi to your green keeper for me. Brian

Thanks Brian. I will try the hybrid. There is a vogue now for using very lofted wedges using the bounce to interact with the ground rather than the ball. I gave this a try but with varying results I look forward to your next video All the best David

Thanks David. It really is a simple method. Don't discount the driver without first trying it at least. You are right that is the trend around at the moment. It is a good method but it requires a high degree of skill. Lets face it most golfers are not in that category. This method requires very little skill because the club is barely touching the ground at impact if at all. Thanks for your comments and for watching. Brian

@@fitzygolfpro thanks Brian. Cant wait to give a try when we get out of lockdown! I read that they have started a really draconian lockdown in Adelaide Hopefully you are doing well in Victoria ATB David

I hope yours ends soon David. Ours effectively went for 5 months. We have 1 case in the state and have had 23 024 days in a row without a new case. We are in a good position. That is for sure. We are reopening to returning Aussies from overseas in a couple of weeks. If the Hotel Quarantine settings aren't right (meaning these people have to do their job right) we will see another wave for sure. The Adelaide lock down ended on Saturday. They are under control now. Stay well and you will on the course evetually. Brian

Just tried the hybrid putting strike, adapted the dominant hand thumb and forefinger grip(right hand) you recommended for putting and what a winner that is. This will cancel out a bad shot or three a round. I roast a Leg of Lamb on the bbq. 2 hours then use good old Aussie BISTO Lamb and Rosemary gravy.

Hi, Brian: I am a fairly new subscriber and just came across this video. I have had really good results using the "putting" method with the club up on its toe. My question is about your shot with the driver--wouldn't a putter have worked well with that lie and the fairly smooth surface up to the green? By the way, I've told my buddies that they MUST watch this channel.
@fitzygolfpro

Hi Don. Thanks for subscribing and asking a question. You are right the putter would have worked very well from here. I encourage people to try the driver for 2 reasons. Firstly it is a bigger head and miss hits go better. Secondly, the ball comes off the face a little hotter with the driver than the putter so you can use a shorter swing for the same result. It is worth trying and considering. Especially on very long chip shots. I appreciate your support. Brian

So true..You can make it difficult and look like the pro's but 9.5 times outa 10 will be fat shots, simplicity goes a long way in this game. Great lesson buddy P.S That putter grip is very important I took note!

Good on you for trying it Rob. It's one of those things that a lot of people don't try because they think it doesn't look good. They want to look like the pros..... The truth is as you have found out it is so easy to use a hybrid. It gets your ball into the hole for less shots. I appreciate your feed back and support. Thanks for watching. Brian

Thanks Brian, I have a question though, most of your simple chipping videos, show an approach from an area that is fairly flat, frequently when I end up just short of the green, the green is elevated and when I chip invariably the ball hits the bank and bounces one way or the other, or lands on the green and scuttles way past the pin. I tend to use your "putting chip" technique with a 9i, this works quite well on the flat. Your thoughts?
@fitzygolfpro
@fitzygolfpro 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, It is a good question. I have this on my list of videos to film but I just need the right conditions and for there to be no golfers on that particular spot for a while so I can film it. It is a bit difficult at the moment with golf being so popular. When running a ball up a slope you need very little loft. A 9 iron just won't do it for you. A hybrid or fairway wood is a great choice of club for this. It is not the best example but you can get the message from a video I made a little while ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4DPoWOtqrF7fbM Thanks for your question. See you at the range soon. Brian
