To get any decent-looking build like this, you're going to need a lot of tools. That's just basic logic.

Love the design. It has a cool 70's future vibe, like something out of Logan's Run. Excellent use of OTS material.

So cool. I have flashbacks of spending a roll of quarters and a few hours at the arcades back in the early 80's! That was so fun and this build brings back those really good memories. Thank you sir.

If you want to hide the bezel of the monitor / TV you can use a piece of craft foam core and cut it to size, then put your clear lexan in front of it for an authentic arcade look.

I pretty much duplicated your controller project. BUT, I made it as a countertop controller unit only. Buttons are slightly different layout as too my personal wants. Even painted red as yours. Wife made a few great vinyl decals on her Cricket cutter that really dressed it up. (Pacman/SpaceInvaders/Frogger) I can't see how to attach an image otherwise I would send to you. Really appreciate the time you took to help us all play those great old games. Thanks a lot!

When we would refurbish arcade games( smoking was allowed then so the control panels got burned), we used flat head screws for the joy sticks. The panel was then covered in vinyl. Then 1/4" lexan which was bolted right through with 1/8" carriage bolts. The vinyl was cut out with a razor once applied, and hole saws knocked out the spaces for the buttons. This way the graphics on the vinyl were protected and we could just replace the lexan once a year or two. I really appreciate this project I am very inspired to try and build one too.

Very cool insight, definitely have an appreciation for the older cabinets. I would love to build a more authentic one some day. Thank you for watching!

@@Bretts_Builds hey your project is the bomb. Great respect to you for keeping the old arcade game alive and I am very much looking forward to replicating your version this winter

On one hand, I like it a lot, and I think the finished product looks great, and actually I wouldn't replace the vinyl. It has a fantastic 80s arcade vibe going for it as it is. On the other hand, if I was doing something like this, I'd make it possible to remove the screen and in fact the entire front plate it's in, because that screen won't last forever and when it dies you may not get one of the same size to replace it, and you don't want to have to tear the whole unit apart when you do that.

I like it 2, Brett.. I'm gonna give it a go. If I had to critic my own build. The monitor. It would have to be 32inch + as where I live a 20inch is relatively the same $ as a 40' and the sides of the box ... an extra 2" wider ..,. Many thanx Brett

Once you get new speakers, you should take them apart, drill two holes under the monitor, and mount them in the holes with a speaker grill in the front. That would probably make it sound a lot better.
