I had the same dome light problem on a 2007 Explorer. I was about to buy a new key cylinder but after watching this video I used a washer with an O.D. of 7/16 inch. Problem gone. I only had to grind down the edge a small amount. Thanks for posting this video.

Thank you!!! this fixed my 2008 explorer! cut off the edge of washer just as you described and it provides just enough to keep pressure on switch so the interior lights dont come on when car is running!! Thank you for posting this fix! toughest part was getting the washer into the socket. 5 minutes and it was fixed! i was considering buying a new ignition switch.
