I have used this method many times. A few tips that I have discovered... I use a marshmallow stamper versus a clear jelly stamper. The polish doesn't pool like it does on a clear stamper. It doesn't dry as fast either. Plus an added benefit that it doesn't rip or tear either. They are meant to be more flexible. It makes the whole thing much easier. Another cool tip, instead of nail polish- use acrylic paint. I use the non toxic cheap 50 cent a bottle paint from walmart. It works amazing. It doesn't dry as fast. You can do several nails with the same bit of paint ( without reapplying). Plus clean up is so easy. Just top coat and let dry. Then wash your hands with warm water and soap. Any paint on the skin comes right off. Also since it dries so much slower on the stamper- you can do a lot of cool color combinations, stripes, marbles, and whatever with it. With a good topcoat, the acrylic paint lasts just as long as nail polish. Remember to cap the tips with topcoat and you are good to go. This is now my new favorite method for french manicures. Stamping them on is my next favorite. But this method allows for so much more creativity and is so much easier- especially with the paint.

@@grespinosa i got mine from amazon. I purchased a few silicon marshmallow stampers. They aren't the clear jelly ones. these ones are usually white or black. They are soft and sticky usually. I appreciate your short, just past the skin nails, thats about the length I go to. Even when I apply tips, I can go two days max with longer length, then I have to cut back and file. Thank you for another good video as always. Love a good French manicure and using the stamper is the best tip that has come up in the last couple of years. Free handing is hard unless you have steady hands but you can easily play around with the stamper to get the smile lines you prefer.

I'm in the same boat! It's just part of my genetics; I have thin, flexible nails that like to split and peel if they grow too far. Cuticle oil helps some, nail polish and strengthener helps some, but I will never have natural nails very far past my skin. (Biotin did not help at all, annoyingly.) I super appreciate that Kelli keeps her nails short.

I loved using this technique. For my birthday I did a cute French tip manicure using Holo Taco’s linear holo polishes. I have medium length nails, so I used a little bit of liquid latex, but had to do some clean up too. I’ve used nail vinyls to do French tips before and found this technique to be much easier. I had the same problem where the polish would dry out quick, so I had to apply a good amount to the stamper each time. I moved the stamper so I had a rounded edge to my French tip, I want to try to do the “V” shaped tips next time!

Hey Kelli! I love you videos ❤️. I saw a video by someone else, don’t remember the name, (I feel so bad!) and she said that white acrylic paint worked way better than regular polish. I tried it and it does dry much slower allowing you to work better. It also helps that the opacity of acrylic paint is much higher than a normal nail polish, so you will def get that crisp white line. Also, for clean up, acrylic paint, you can wash off with soap and water, avoiding the acetone 😉 Try it out! Maybe you like it!

tbh when im doing my nails i don't use acetone to clean up. i separate the polish that's off the nail from what's on the nail with a smooth edge, wait for everything to dry down, and then just saturate my hands with lotion or oil (like lubriderm or jojoba oil) and then use a non-sharp bladed edge to debride the excess polish & any remaining dead skin on my finger tips. it works REALLY well for me and always leaves a crisp edge.

I personally love this technique, it's the first time I've achieved a decent French mani on myself, as you don't need to be ambidextrous, yes there's some clean up required but it's easy to do. P. S. I achieved a more pronounced smile line by rocking the stamp side to side to take the line further down the sides of the nail, takes a bit of practise, but if I did it anyone can.

I recently bought these curved nail sticker/stencil things off amazon and used them just for fun and BOY was I amazed. . .I did them over the sheer pink polish which really made it have a nice clean curved line. Best of all, no gooey cleanup under the nails (mine are short too). I love your moon and crystal necklace in this video! Good job on your french mani with that stamper!

I have not tired this "hack". I am currently rocking the duo chrome french tips over blurring base mani inspired by your Twitch stream and it did turn out beautiful. As soon as I finished and put my top coat on, I looked next to me on my nail desk and saw my ice cube stamper and kicked myself for not trying it. It does look so much easier. I have such a hard time lining up the french tip guides so I usually use striping or scotch tape but I like the look of a slightly curved line better.

Thursday nights = friends, Friends thru ER on tv, and a fresh mani pedi. :) I always did the white tips first and then did one or two coats of a sheer white polish over the nail, followed by topcoat. Sometimes with a glitter or iridescent topcoat thrown in for fun. (For the record, my toes are always some crazy color, lol.)

Hi kelli and everyone! I know I am late to comment and probably no one will see this. I've tried this hack and would love to share my tips for those who can't work fast enough before the nail lacquer dry, but also don't like to use gel lacquer. I use Sally Hansen's miracle gel to give me a little extra time to line up my nails. Also, I dip my nails at a angle on the stamper instead of straight down. I line up my nail at the edge of the lacquer and then push in at the angel on the stamper. This will make less cleanup on the fingertips and a nice smile French tips. My goto is to pair my French tips with a halo dust topper as a base coat. Hope this helps everyone. Thank you!,
