Carnivores don't like it because it includes fruits and vegetables. Vegans don't like it because it includes meat and dairy. Good sign it is an excellent way to eat.

Hi Barbara and thanks for the question. Grits can be a very healthy whole grain, especially if it is stone ground and not too refined and fish is a very healthy part of the Mediterranean diet so it all depends how you prepare them. Hold off on deep-frying fish and hold off of lots of butter with your grits and I think you’d have a very healthy fun dinner option!

Hi Kerry Ann. A couple of ideas… if it’s gas you are worried about, I like to soak my beans the night before and refresh the water a few times before cooking. In the cooking process, start by adding a bit of baking soda to the pan with the beans before you add the water. That should help too. When you start increasing fiber in your diet with healthy beans and legumes, it’s really important to take it slow and gradually increase your intake so that you don’t experience bloating or a gut ache. And make sure you drink plenty of water which will help too. If you experience bloating or gas, just dial it back a bit and gradulally increase your fiber intake every week. Depending on your system, it can take more than a few weeks to find the sweet spot and have your system adjust to it. I hope I’ve answered your question and I help this helps. Cheers, Caroline
