I’ve done this before on a flexing shower pan. Rather than drilling holes inside the pan, I drilled at the front of the curb as close to the floor with a long drill bit. Filled with foam, then caulked the holes.

i have done this repair myself, using the following formula, Drill the point of each crack, dependent on the cavity behind the shower pan , back fill with cavity foam, each crack needs to be champhered in to a 'V', fill with the matching product, GRP or resin, flat out, then choose the area to coat, mask, and i used 2pack wetfloor paint that is so strong it will never rip or break, 3 coats are needed, the product i use is Sikkens, it comes in many colours, and it has antibackteria content, so no bugs live on the surface, use a foam roller for a nice finish.

This is a great idea, and it worked for sure, however, the flex seal made the shower very slippery. I had to apply a non-slip spray. But it did make the floor very ridgid, and solve the ultimate problem. Just keep in mind that although the "touch" of the surface feels rubbery and taky, like it would be non-slip, when you add water, it becomes quite slippery.

Wow... I'm amazed with this quick fix. I only hope it came sooner. I'm a single mom & my shower floor started out that way & FLEX wasn't invented yet & yes its price range to have it done professionally was quoted $2,500. Now, that is something a single mom with 2 handicap adult children 1 of them with cancer can ever afford. So I started doing it on my own & I'm not that great in repairing a shower floor lol. But, I try. Anyways, my cracks became longer & more cracks was added. Then comes flexi-Tape, so I would put that on, it last for a while, then I'd need to redo it all over again. Now, spray foam & flex tape. Geez that's a work out for me.

My super cheap fix was to clean the crack real good with alcohol, then apply protective joist tape, it’s this black stuff That’s intended to go on top of deck joists. It has a rubbery texture and is super sticky, almost like tar. It binds very well to the fiberglass. It’s ugly but it will hold for a year or so until I get around to ripping the POS shower out and putting in a fully tiled walk-in shower.

I’ve used flex seal in the spray can and it just came off after a couple of showers. What I ended up doing was I used boating tape on the cracks and I had some Extra rhino liner when I did my truck bed. The shower looked kind of tacky but there’s no way you could slip and it felt really good on your feet during a hot shower. They make white rhino liner I probably should have just done that

That's odd. Did you prep it a little? I used it on the bottom of my 1970 bathtub and it didn't start to peel until 6 years later BUT that is only because I didn't do the whole bottom, just across the cracks where we all stand. So 6 years of 3 people showering with well water and only 20 min labor I can't complain.

So I started this process today. Only had one soft spot under the tray but had a significant hairline crack going along the front right when you step into the shower. Drilled my whole for the one soft or squishy part o found and sprayed the foam into that whole and into the crack along front of the tray. Waited an hour plus 5 minutes removed the excess and taped off around the crack and painted it along with dropping some into the whole I drilled and foamed. Not sure if I should remove the tape before or after the full 24hr time frame? Thank you for the video I’ll update tomorrow. 😁

Great job! I would probably remove the tape before the 24 hour period just my opinion, hope it worked well for you

@@losopadre971 hey! did your repair hold up? i have the same issue with the hairline crack along the front when you step in as well. was the one drill mark and the foam and flex seal enough?
@losopadre971
@losopadre971 3 жыл бұрын
@@jasoncheng745 Yes it has. I drilled one whole where I felt the dip, filled it and also along the front portion as you step into the shower as well. Then covered it with the sea lent. One little drop or so over where I drilled and taped off the section at the front of the shower as you step in, completely painted it removed the tape and it still held up. I followed the instructions to the letter. I just wish I would of sealed the crack as you step in first. I feel like I put too much in the spot I drilled but it has held up very well.

@@bigjoewebb older folks don't need to shower every day, usually because they don't get dirty or sweaty. It's not good for one's overall health to shower every day because you might wash off the protective oils and bacteria.

Watched this, liked it. Looked at your other videos of smoking meat etc and subscribed! You repaired this about five months ago; is it still holding up? Local place quoted me $800 to fix mine and repaint whole tub/shower combo. I really wanna try your way- is their anything you’d do different now that you have already done it? Thank you.

That's great thank you! Still holding up really good. Only thing I might change is I would cover the whole floor bottom, I still might do it in the future. But for like $30 it's well worth the try for you. You'll save tons

@@Madnais78 No, leave it this way. You never know if the seal support mold so it could be a problem to get it out plus bleach could discolorate sealant in ugly way. Point that you give before is very right, when tub rubber it used repair is completely covered, and thats the best way to go

Idk how much flex repair you had left over but it would have been better just to do the whole bottom or not by the way how did it hold up?
